The brightest scope i have right now is a VX-5 hd. It is very good in low light but after legal shooting light on our lease, we often stay on stand and shoot hogs. Sometimes we go out (in winter and spring) and hunt from dark til midnight for hogs. It seems that the Meostar R2 could be potentially the ideal scope for lowlight on a hunting set up. But i cant find much on them. Has anyone any experience with these scopes? Especially compared to a VX-5?

I like my Meostar binos but just wondering if it is really a light gathering advantage. I don’t mind spending the extra $500 if i can gain that advantage.

Thanks

I currently have a Meopta mounted on six rifles. I have been very happy with all of them (four MeoPro; one each R1 and R2 . When I started buying them 6-7 years ago, I only directly compared them to the Zeiss and Steiner scopes I had on hand; never head to head with any Leupolds since they were older scopes and I had long stopped buying Luepold by then. They match or exceed the scopes I compared them to. I have and do recommend them to anyone who asks. I think you get a Euro quality scope at reasonable price points. I'm currenlty considering the purchase of an Optika6.

Thanks for the input! Very helpful. Would you say the R2 is noticeably brighter than the R1 and Meopro?

I would thing that 56mm objective with a dichroic reticle would be tough to beat for low light hunting.
