Like others said, call the bio. You do not need lymph nodes, you have the brain if you want to test

Doesn't really matter if they do. It's very unlikely that the cleaning processors do would remove prions from their equipment.Does the processor guarantee your own meat back? Including the meat in the sticks and sausage?
That is pretty weird. There shouldn't be anything other than an increase year over year.I have a hard time buying into the cwd crisis. We took nodes in for testing and asked the bio about the spread as Washington state is apparently the epicenter of the area. She said so far no positive tests, but last year was "really bad". They had 3 positive tests that came in from all the animals that year. This sounds fishy to me.
....and we had another huge die off of whitetails which should have spiked the numbers. That is pretty weird. There shouldn't be anything other than an increase year over year.

Yeah, but you’d have to consume such tissue or somehow ingest the bodily fluids. Hence why handling usually isn’t an issue with the proper ppe/care, but ingestion is more concerning
Bleach won't cut it.So I am not an expert on Prions but I thought one of the big concerns is how its nearly impossible to wash off of anything? Isnt bleach the only approved cleaner to kill them? Sure if you wear all plastic shit and bleach the room and tools I guess its fine. I have never worn extensive PPE to mess with a deer head.
The meat on the other hand I thought has in detectible levels of prions.
I butcher a deer right when I get home but put the full head in the freezer double bagged until I get results back.
On the other hand I may not be correct on the best theories on risk here, and they may also not be right so who knows. I dont get overly worried either way.
Looks like Prions from deer have recently infected Humans. I was surprised too...It’s not likely, but not zero percent chance. Prion diseases have crossed species in the past. And experts still advise using caution when handling animals in known CWD environments. The expert ma advise caution because they are not certain aka they don’t know.
Makes you wonder how many people that take their deer to a processor are unknowingly eating CWD infected deer.Does the processor guarantee your own meat back? Including the meat in the sticks and sausage?
As much as I am wary of CDW infected meat, that's not a study, it's an article reporting facts. It's also not proof of the jump. I agree with it's conclusions and think we should study every single instance of CJD and that should include if the person hunted or ate wild deer.Looks like Prions from deer have recently infected Humans. I was surprised too...
Virtually all of them if there's ever been a CWD deer taken to that processor.Makes you wonder how many people that take their deer to a processor are unknowingly eating CWD infected deer.
