Does anyone own or have tried a Kuiu Stormstar 2 person tent? How do they do in the wind? I really need a wind resistant tent here in the plains and mountains of Wyoming. Let me know your thoughts!

A buddy has one. Out of 4 tents this year during an Alaska windstorm, two collapsed, one got shook pretty good and his hardly flapped. It does, however, have 100 guylines and when it wasn’t windy we had our tents setup in 3 minutes and it took him nearly 20 minutes. I’m definitely jealous of the wind-proofness but I’ll never buy one because of the amount of time it takes to setup.

I heard they are good in the wind. The wind absolutely rips here, I’ve had some bad experiences with tents blowing over and decided to try to find one that’s more resistant.

The Kuiu is your ticket if you don’t mind the setup. The pole on the outside and the fly and tent body together is also nice if it’s raining.

I just ordered one for Oregon late season archery. Read up a lot on tents to figure out which will fit my needs best.

Set up time never crossed my mind. I always chuckle when guys will pack in all their gear five miles, spending hours getting to their spot, then complain about an extra two minutes or less it takes to set up a tent.

Me and my wife slept in mine in the yard the other night as rain storms were moving in and I wanted to check it out. Set up went fairly well and I did not stake out guy lines. The footprint I gotta figure out the cords are too short to fit to each stake for the corners of the tent so I had to use 4 more stakes for the footprint and could come in contact with the tent if not carefull. Maybe I did something wrong but I gotta check into that. It was very taunt without guy out's. It's TIGHT for two. I did like that the doors have solid panels that can be un zipped to access the screen for ventilation. The upper ventilation when you un zip it's straight access to the outside which I don't like. The tent sits low, very low head room. Materials are super thin but very durable. The storms came but were week. Rain and some wind. The tent was solid! One more thing, which I knew before this outing by putting it up in the house and then putting it away. I did not have the footprint originally so when I took the tent down in the house and tried to get just the tent back in the bag......damn it! Inside the bag is kinda tacky and I fought like hell to get it in this was no poles or stakes OR footprint. So this last outing when I put it away I used a compression bag from rei I had around. I was able to get everything in. All in all a great backing tent I believe.

It's an absolute tank if you don't mind the space being tight for two guys, ours has been on a lot of wet, windy, nasty adventures here in the PNW.

They have a couple of sales a year, but their tent inventory is never very good and they're rarely in stock during those sales. If you want to save some money this watch the forum for a used one
