Are we talking diaphragm calls? If so each color of diaphragm call is different in the latex thickness and stretch so what might work for me may not work for you and there is really no best one except for the one you blow the best. I like the green and black AMPs calls but have a hard time with the gray call while others think the gray rocks. I like all 3 of the Born and Raised AMP calls. I'm currently waiting on the pink AMP to try. You might not even like the Phelps calls or get them to work well and maybe a call from Rocky Mountain Game Calls is your ticket. Bottom line is blow the dust off the wallet and pick up a couple to try then go from there.

I have tried their orange, black, green, grey, pink, and white diaphragms. For calf/young cow calls the black and the orange are best to me. For bugles the pink is by far the easiest and best sounding (again, my opinion). All around I would go with the grey. I can bugle and cow call with it. Green is a bit easier for me to cow call on, but not to bugle with.

New to Phelps Calls. Tried both Amp black and grey. I like the grey. What really help my calling was one of their Elk Bugle Tubes.

I agree that each are different depending on your pallet size and whatnot. I like the Green AMP for high pitched location bugles and calf sounds. The grey is better for deeper tones. Those are the only two I’ve tried thus far.

I was finally able to try a grey and white amp reed and they both sounded great. I preferred the white for bugling and the grey for cow calls.

You can’t go wrong with any of them. The green amp called in seven bulls for me last year. Excited to play with both the maverick and the pink this year since both sound phenomenal. I also have the grey, white, and orange and they all work and sound great.

I really like the BRO yellow and maverick red. I have a couple others but grab those 2 first.

Like mentioned, try many before you make a final decision.

It’s hard to answer this question - it’s like the “best boot” threads. Everyone’s mouth is different. I’ve tried RM, Phelps, and Paul’s calls. The Phelps calls for my mouth the best, but even then, there are only two Phelps calls I can easily and consistently use and sound good. The pink one and the red one - and those sound 90% the same. I can use other calls for very specific sounds, but those two are the ones I use 95% of the time. I probably went through 10 calls experimenting before I settled on those two. The gray and white were the other two that I was able to use, but the sound was better from red and pink.

Would love your guys thoughts?

Cheers!
No such things as best in my opinion. Each person has a favorite but that’s all it is. I’ve only used three of them. The white, Phelps pink, and the Maverick. I prefer the pink and the mav. I take both into the mountains. Good luck this year everyone!

Bought Grey, White, 3 other brands, a pack of the Elk101 kit, and the Maverick. Absolutely loved the Maverick. Easiest diaghpram I have ever blown. Went and bought three more after blowing the first one.
