I deliberated long and hard on a new rifle purchase. Ultimately settled on a Seekins PH3 in .308. I knew of the primer strike issue, but felt I had a 97-98% chance of getting lucky on that.
I had emailed Seekins about any advised barrel break in. Their response was that “groups and velocity will settle in between 40-60 shots”.
Gun arrives. I buy 5 different types of ammo of various bullet weights.
Head to the range. After 60 rounds, I’ve had two misfires and the best group I can muster is maybe 1.5 MOA.
I sent an email. They responded the same day.
They asked me to clean the bolt head, check my scope, tighten the actions screws to 50lbs and try the Hornady 178gr ELD X.
Complied with all that.
Went to the range with two boxes of ELD-X.
After those boxes were gone, I had another misfire and at best 2 MOA groups.
I sent pics of the groups with the recommended ammo. I received a shipping label the same day with a guarantee they would take care of both issues.
Got the gun back this week. Went to the range this morning.
I’m at best an average shot. I don’t reload, so the pic is with factory ammo.
Our society tends to complain loudly and praise weakly. I just wanted to let people know my experience with Seekins and their efforts to stand behind what they make.

@Boolitz were your 1.5 and 2 moa groups three shot groups also? I’m glad to hear they took care of you but I would shoot some 10 round or larger groups before feeling comfortable that the rifle is fixed.

They said they “flushed up” the barrel to the action.
@brapp I shoot 3-5 rd groups before sending it back. Some of the groups were were worse than that.
I’ve shoot ten three shot groups so far. All are like this. I’m just a deer hunter, so I think it will work for me.

10 3-shot groups tells you way less than 3 10-shot groups. 3 shots only tell you if a gun sucks. Even if you just keep resorting the same target each time you shoot 3 more if your worried about barrel heat. Will give you want more useful data.

I had the same problem with a .308 Win Horizon Vandal, it was shooting 1.5"groups when new. Sent it back and got back a 1 hole 5 shot shooter returned. No explanation of what was wrong but I appreciate the speed of the turnaround and results. They seem like a great company,
