This is the WHY........

If you haven't fallen in the mountains—sorry, but you've never hunted in the mountains.

3-5" of snow and a smooth branch covered parallel to the slope, wet snow or rain on a steep slope of bear grass, a quarter mile of negotiating blowdown w/ frost/snow/ice, a talus slope covered in snow & ice, etc—oh and add carrying a 25-100 lb pack and rifle to that.

I've also broken a couple of trekking poles falling. I still laugh at myself packing out an elk one year and I had to cross a stream. Fell in the stream both times I had to cross it with a load of meat.

I feel like by the second time id be cussing, crying, and hating myself, but at the same time be throughly enjoying the moment.
