Thinking of switching

Hello,
I live in CA and currently hunt with a 7mm Rem Mag. Lately, I've been considering making the switch to a 6.5 PRC. Have any of your guys made a similar switch and if so, are you glad you did?

You don’t cite any reasons. Honestly, this sounds like the “need better golf clubs” marketing inferiority ploy. (Marketers try to make you think you are inferior to your golf foursome because you lack latest bright shiny object.)

I’d recommend you spend 1/2-1/3 of your new gun budget and buy more ammo and then practice more. You can tell the spouse how much you’ve saved! ;)

Did you read his follow up? He lists decent reasons he wants to upgrade from a 1962 rem700 to something more modern. A 6.5 prc is a great blacktail round.

It actually sounds to me like the OP puts in the range time and may be out shooting his current setup. Or at the very least may want to save some wear and tear on the current setup for sentimental reasons.

My personal rifles are pretty old school because that is what I prefer when rifle hunting. But have witnessed several kills with 6.5 both prc and CM. From 30 to 500ish yards. They seem to work great. I am looking hard at one for my kids a gun. Leaning toward the CM at the moment but may do the PRC if I spring for a suppressed setup.
