Thermal scope recommendations

Did you ever get the XL60? My XG50 is awesome. I can't imagine what the XL60 looks like
Not yet. I've been binging on winter gear and barely have time to open all the boxes.

My friend has one and its next level to look thru. Maybe don't look...

My hunting buddies and I run the XL60, XG60, and NocPix ACE S60R. All three are awesome and will kill coyotes equally effectively.

I bet you're losing opportunities on targets you aren't detecting.
I actually run the Desert Tech myself. It’s a pretty solid solution for night hunting. I use a 6 creed barrel chambered by Short Action Customs, and shoot the 80 ELDVTs.

A helmet setup is vastly superior to a handheld. You get far more uptime, which is the name of the game. I hunt with two other guys and we run dual thermal monoculars on helmets. Yes, it is heavy and sometimes annoying, but there is never a time when we are not on the glass. It is extremely effective. In the cold I run a thin balaclava under the helmet and a warm neck gaiter.

That's rare to get 2 of us in the same room. My gun has an SAC 223 kit and LRI did wild fluting to get the weight down.

You don't miss much with the helmet.

Can’t recommend the DNT Thermnight or Hydras enough. My DNT Thermnight 335 was much better at spotting coyotes compared to my cousins Pulsar with a 384 sensor

I am interested in learning about helmet mounted scanner set up. Where do I start? Could anyone recommend helmets, mounting types, etc. Here or DM

I would look at Ops Core bump helmet, Wilcox Dual Bridge and iray mh25. Before you purchase a helmet setup definitely use one a couple nights if possible. I have a helmet setup and monoculars and I grab a monocular with a monopod more often than not.

Appreciate that. We drive a lot scouting in golf carts or utv. I am interested in using a helmet so my hand is free while driving. I also need to research a rig mount. Totally new to that also

I have a Rix ST6 with a L4G24 mount and I really like it. Have those mounted on a Shellback tactical ballistics helmet and I’m not a fan of the helmet. I’m going to get a team Wendy or Hard head veterans bump helmet next.

I also have a Nvision Nox 18 and really have not been impressed with it when compared to the Rix ST6. Have tested both in 100% humidity/fog lately and the Rix performs better IMO. I can navigate with both and scan while driving but again, I think the Rix is better.

The ST6 is a few grand cheaper than the IRay and Nvision. It’s just not weapon mountable and doesn’t record audio.

Before that, I had a AGM Seeker V2 15-384 mounted on a helmet and it worked. Just looked like a dildo on the helmet haha. Needed a counter weight too.

Everything with thermal seems to be preference. The guy above prefers his hand held monocular and I prefer helmet mounted after hunting with both methods. No wrong way but helmet does take a little getting used to.

We have 2 of these set up with armasight sidekick, flip up bracket and battery pouch.

The thermal is pretty rudimentary but we don't miss much. Money is in the aiming devices.

Night and Day better than a hand held. Pun intended.
