There’s 6 of us hunting this ranch and we’re all trying to cover different parts of it, my son couldn’t go this morning (test at school) so I was the scout and sure enough, I was the only one that had bulls within range, but everybody was seeing elk. Tanya and Ryan made an impressive mile climb to get to me but the bulls had made the timber. Before I saw those, they made a play on a herd but they got in cover. Lots of that here.

And then tonight with the storm coming in nobody saw or heard an elk. It’s kind of got them shut down right now. Big full moon tonight too. Gonna get wet cool and maybe a little snow next few days. It will certainly help vs the record temps we’ve had.

Not even a chipmunk tonight!

But I did find a moose shed.

raghorns. Cash has a chance at a spike but didn’t wanna go after it. Bunch of snobs

The weather change definitely fired up the elk. I heard what I thought was a person making every Primos noise in the book. To my surprise a cow and a good bull popped out of the brush moving way too fast for a shot.

Cash’s last evening just wrapped up. Gotta go back to school. He hunted 5 of the 6 days he had. We saw elk everyday just never made the right play on them to get a shot. We had a hoot though. He definitely understands that cow elk here come easier than bulls.





Tanya’s hunting her tail off. Hasn’t missed a morning or evening yet. Like Cash, just need something to go her way. They had a chance at a herd bull today but no shot.

I gotta buck story when I have time to write it. It’s not simple!
