On the way in, on snowshoes, I spotted two deer feeding in the oaks. I was able to use a small rise between us to close to 35 yards. A vector arrow and head sealed the deal at 12:05 pm!

Awesome!

So I personally drew WY general elk tag. Didn't apply for any Midwest deer tags. I also drew a MT mule deer tag. I plan to archery hunt CO and WY in September for elk. Then I'll be guiding in NM all of October for elk. MT rifle mule deer and then just OTC whitetail in the midwest.

How did you all fare during the draw??

Drew an either sex for the 4th Colorado elk hunt in 301 by Craig. First time out west hunting anything. Kind of stoked.

Got my Colorado 1st rifle tag.
Be meeting up with an old buddy that used to live in the area. Barry didn’t draw a tag, but his nephew did, so have a couple hunting partners.

Heard a bugle and some cows talking while scouting this morning in coastal Oregon. Got the blood pumping and it was good to know there are some elk with antlers around since all im getting on my cams are cows and no luck finding fresh rubs yet

Headed out to CO in 2 weeks can’t wait for being up close and personal with bugling bulls! Here is to ‘23!

I’m home. That was enough. Hot as blazes even at 10k’. No bugling. Even did a big loop one night hitting the tube and calling, nada. Elk sign was plentiful, dozens of boot miles off trail. They win, sort of. It was fun for me.

Then some random elk twists the knife. Found this right behind the tent this morning. Could that be deer poop? Only deer tracks seen.
