The Rokslide Stock Traders Thread

I have a little bit of MSTY currently. But really think the best plan is to pick up more in a Roth account. Never giving the tax man a chance to get a cut. Does that seem like the right approach?
I don't know if that's the right approach, but that what I did a few weeks ago.

I had 25 large in my ROTH and bought MSTY. Got my first DIV last week for $1,600 and it's already in my bank account all while being tax free. 🤑

If it drops to zero, so be it. I'm willing to take the risk for a DIV way better than the 4-5% I was getting over the last year.

P.S. I've been pretty hard headed on BTC over the past 3-4 years. Heck, I was going to buy one BTC 3 years ago when it was close to $15k but the lowest it got was $17k IIRC. Anyway, I've now come to realize I need to have some kind of BTC connection and MSTY and STRK are my answer.

Have you received any div from STRK yet? I was back and forth between that and MSTY, went MSTY, but still interested in STRK.

Also what’s crazy about your div from MSTY is that could be a house payment

Depends on your time frame. If you had MSTY in your Roth and reinvested the dividends over the last year your total return would be within a few % of MSTR's total return. If BTC and MSTR trade sideways for the next year MSTY might outperform. If BTC rips MSTR will likely have higher returns. Most of my MSTR is in my Roth and most of my MSTY is in my non tax advantaged brokerage account and I live off of the dividends. I have 4 more years until I can access the funds in my Roth. If I could access the funds in my Roth now I may have a different perspective.

So lets say Powell gets fired. Whats your move? Put everything into Euros?

I heard people talking about how the market would crash if Powell “gets fired” I tend to think it will rip, bc the next guy will lower rates and print non stop.

The euro market has been doing better though, after a decade.

No payment from STRK yet. I just bought on 3/20. It pays 4x a year....MAR/JUN/SEP/DEC.

I know on the amount of the MSTY DIV. And it's paid monthly, which is crazy for someone who's used to qtrly DIV. And if BTC catches fire, it'll only go up. Or if it shits the bed, then nothing but ugly for my 25 large, but I'm good with that.

I have Treasuries maturing next week and some of that will go into MSTY and a couple other stocks I've been watching.

Anybody notice how ST Treasuries have dropped over the past few days? About 30 BPS, which is a lot in such a short time.

Wouldn’t your divi go into your Roth and not your bank account?

More bad news for Tesla. The Cybertruck is shaping up to be the biggest automotive failure so far this century with recent reduction in production targets and a budding class action lawsuit about odometers speed ups to avoid warranty claims + the "death cross" 50-day moving average crossing below its 200-day average.
and yet its PE ratio is still higher than Invidia....

In all seriousness if Powell gets fired before his term is up, huge overstep but nothing surprises me anymore. I think it would be a huge mistake. I will likely start moving some exposure to international markets with his term up in 2026 regardless.

Not everything, but that would be a major communication to the world that the Fed is no longer a separate entity and monetary policy can change at the speed of a Tweet, or a "Truth". Major capital flight.

Sounds a lot like the Turkish economic crisis and a recipe for hyperinflation.

"Erdoğan, who said interest rates beyond his control to be "the mother and father of all evil", shared his unorthodox interest rate theories in a 14 May interview with Bloomberg and said that "the central bank can't take this independence and set aside the signals given by the president."

.

Every Admin blasts the Fed Chair- nothing new. Odds of Powell getting fired are low with cooler heads in this admin that know firing him now would be a mistake.

I'm still holding some cash....which I maybe should have deployed since I see some of my stuff thats up 20%+ in a week.<hindsight face palm>

Anyone looking at PFE here? Dang Pfizer has been beat up- a $125B company thats PEG is at .53 and a forward dividend of 7.77%. Something tells me it's a double in 3-4 years and you get almost 8% div for holding it.
Image 4-18-25 at 3.53 PM.jpeg

They announce on the 29th- will it be a throw out the baby with the bath quarter, taking charges, lowering guidance and possibly cutting dividend? Or will it be "We are doing OK"

Per Morningstar, in their last report, PFE doubted they can hit the 6% growth of 2020-24 but say their dividend is intact. They have fair value at $42, currently it's $22.50. Yeah, Trump is forcing the lowering of drug costs which will cut into their profit margin but he is proposing a mechanism for doing it at a reasonable rate allowing for some profit, still to be fleshed out.
[ it costs these companies on avg $800M to develop a new drug, the last admin's proposals stifles drug development which I doubt this admin wants- a plus for PFE]

Lots of "Ifs" with PFE !
[ DO YOUR OWN RESEARCH]

I bet that political indecision is costing this stock $3-$4 or more. Full disclosure, I bought some in the $24 and $25 range that I had mentioned here before. I'm buying more on Monday.
