The perfect Kifaru pack...anyone agree?

I've found the perfect set up for my needs. A Nomad on a Duplex frame with a Long Hunter lid and Camp bag. I sewed some pals onto a rifle scabbard I butchered from an old Eberlestock pack and mount it to my set up with a malice clip.

For my rifle hunting, i settled on this same set up, except with a guide lid. I had gone away from the nomad after I tried it with a bikini, but now it is great with the duplex frames.

I'd like to see a 6000-7000 bag with a center zip and 3 compression straps.. No pockets or sleeves or anything.. Full daisy chains on sides and back of pack so you can do whatever you want..

And a hunting duplex in foliage! :D

My perfect pack. New UL Duplex frame, cargo panel with guide Lid, 2 med pouches (obviously removable), two small belt pouches, hydration carrier and Gunbearer. A dry bag solds all my camping gear (tent, sleep system, stove, food, etc). Good for a day-good for a couple of weeks.

I have run the DT3, DT1, Mtn Rambler, Nomad, and Mtn Warrior.... Try as I might, I cannot get anything to work as well as the nomad for my hunting style. Yes, its strappy, but if you run a guide lid, you can put the stuff you access a lot in that and not have to use the straps. Nomad, grab it, lid, camp bag or similar dry bag.... you are set to go for 4 hours or 7 days and can haul half an elk easier than any pack I have ever used.

The cargo panel is complete overkill with the nomad, a grab it will carry more than you can pick up.

For rifle hunting I run an eberlestock scabbard down the center and just don't snug it up too tight... works great even with my 338 edge with a 30+ inch barrel.

I like the DT3, but it has NOTHING on the nomad when it comes to hauling meat and gear for more than a couple days.

I personally HATED running a DT1 sized bag for day trip stuff. I felt like I had to tie a rope to my foot so I didn't get lost digging armpit deep into it to get at things at the bottom. Just me

Joe...if you didn't cut the snow collar out just close and strap down the DT1 bag and use the top (snow collar) to carry your stuff. Works great!

I too like the Nomad on my Duplex for my hunting needs. And to make it better, IMO, i took off the original long compression straps and switched over to the 5.11 Tactical Rush Tier System straps (had to buy two sets to get six straps). Did not use the 5.11 female split buckles. Changed out three of the male buckles with females. These strap lengths are perfect by themselves for day hunts and i carry three male/female extension straps in the pack for hauling things like elk quarters or the OR 35 dry sack.
