The perfect Kifaru pack...anyone agree?

It does have larger pockets now. The DT1 and DT2 were changed a few months ago and more size was added to the side pockets as well as the two on the back/front panel. They are slightly smaller than the pockets on the AMR.

Aron,

I ran into a problem on my DT1 in that there was no length added to the bungee, so any added room to the pockets gets restricted by a bungee that's too short if the bag is stuffed full. I suggest adding another couple inches to the bungee. I know it's a nitpick and easy to remedy, just an observation.

Matt

Kifaru DT1 with a panel like the mountain warrior would be a pack I buy and never see myself replacing. I'm pretty happy with the mountain warrior though.

I agree but I'd go t2 size.
Watched all the videos (for the 4th or 5th time) earlier and the mountain rambler is definitely growing on me. Gonna have to include one in fusion with the new frame order!

I love the nomad/camp bag setup. It is super minimal as a daypack, yet I can haul my full camp with the same pack. I can also tailor the load out with pods and pockets for exactly what I want and need. I really can't think of a better setup.

Totally agree with this. I will say that I rarely strap my bow to the pack even with the grab it. I just don't like having it strapped down as tight as it needs to be at times to keep it from shifting.

Nice I didn't know the front pockets were that much bigger.

For a while I wanted an extra large belt pouch. But I think the spotting scope may accomplish what I want.

the AMR is a great pack, super versatile from a weeklong pack to a daypack or anywhere in between with the wide tube opening and three compression straps

I have a new to me EMR II. I am liking it very much. I need to pack out a few elk and hump the bulkier winter gear around to consolidate that opinion.

A friend was correct that the extra compression straps would bug me more than I thought, but they haven't dimmed my view of the pack.

DT1 and done. It's got it all. Size, organization, weight. One of the most under sold features is being able to take out the bottom contents (sleeping bag, tent) without disturbing the contents in the main pack. It does give it up to the emr for ackward loads.

The EMR in my opinion is a little flappy and strappy. I do prefer a more streamlined bag though.

Mountain warrior with a 6000 ci main bag and 3 compression straps and I'd be happy.

Why is Mountain Warrior not in this thread more? Too small?

My guess is that either people haven't used it at all or the people that do have it haven't used it enough to make an informed opinion since it is so new.

It just doesn't seem to have any downsides besides the main bag being a little bit small.. But when you have tons of pockets and pouches, you shouldn't need a massive main bag right? 5k seems plenty once you kit it out?

I think the bag is probably pretty similar in size to the DT1 now all in all with the smaller snow collar?? Probably 1500ci less or so?

I had the DT1 and MW side by side. For me it simply came down to better organization from the DT1 and being a little bit larger. I think even with the DT1 snow collar removed it is still a bit larger than the MW. The MW is more modular though. But by time i added more pockets and pouches to bring it up to a DT1 it was heavier.

The deciding factor for me was probably the fact that i can bivy hunt with the DT1 a lot easier by being able to drop my sleep gear and not have to dig around in the main bag rearranging stuff and whatnot. Remember, you also have to rearrange when you put it back in. This is probably not an issue if you keep your sleep gear on top of everything else. In the end, it was simply size and better organization with the DT1, ounce per ounce. I also did not prefer to have a spotter in the back pocket of the MW. But i did love the modularity with the MW as well as all of the nice little features it had. I certainly would not have been displeased had i kept the MW!

I had a hard time choosing between the AMR and the DT1. I ended up with AMR, I am thinking I made the right choice. I love the large opening and having some pals on the side for pockets was nice too.

I'd like to see a Tahr with a center zip...give me that and I'd be set for 3-5 days and a boned out deer. Will Kifaru do a customization like that?

I've found the perfect set up for my needs. A Nomad on a Duplex frame with a Long Hunter lid and Camp bag. I sewed some pals onto a rifle scabbard I butchered from an old Eberlestock pack and mount it to my set up with a malice clip.

With the discount on the HIgh Camps right now I am considering ordering one and adding accessories I think I need when I can. Could build a heck of a pack system using it as a base and build it as you see fit. All for a pretty darn reasonable cost. Thoughts on that?
