The other small caliber (not 223 or 6creed)

Been heavy on the 6br for 4 seasons now

if regs keep you from dabbling with 223, take a look at a 6br.

It’s stupid ez to load for.
Components are ez to find.
The ez load is 30gr of varget 20thou off and a 108, but you can lean on it with lever evolution and run a 109eld-m or 112 match burner and stretch it’s legs.
Recoils very similar to a 223
barrel life is good. So is throat life.

108’s hammer stuff. 2800fps launch makes it a 600 yard gun.

My favorite part is just how ez it is to shoot a rounds to waterline ar distance.

And lastly feedin hasn’t been an issue. On a tikka I load rounds to front of aics mags and it’s golden. Same with a kimber montana in factory blind mag

Typical 300 yard exit.

Couldn't agree more. I love my 6 BRA rifles. Shooting the 87s and the 105-8 class bullets is fun.

I don't have to worry about caliber in AZ, so picked up a 22 BR barrel to run .223 heavies in my rifle.

Spill ur guts on the 22br

I got a 7.7” twisted one that needs to Get used someday.

Thinking a good charge of ‘lever over a 75 eld would be good mule deer medicine.

21”

18” and lever you’ll sniff 2800fps

But to be fair I’d 20” and run an over barrel suppressor.

Or run a smaller can. A 6br is a lot less blast then a 6cm naked.

What mag are you getting it to feed out of? Tikka factory mag work?

I recently got a 22-250 tikka with the thought of 22cm down the road but 6BR sound just enough better than 6ARC to make it worth it

Thanks for posting this, I like this idea. I have a SA 700Ti that hasn't done anything for years. I've been thinking about using it for a superlight rifle in a smaller cartridge. This would work with the .473 bolt as is. It would be about perfect.

I've looked into the Dasher and GT, but this really might be more than enough, use less powder, and be a great option for my typical hunting scenarios.

A 22BR would be great as well, I guess all you'd need are the dies and 6BR brass.

108’s are so good it’s about like jumping over quarters to get nickels but if I could find a few thousand of them I’d stick a few critters with em.

Other thing to chance on would be 109’s on game. Hornady podcast days are they have a different linotype so they aren’t improved 108’s but the increase in bc would be nice if they’d upset into the upper teens reliably

Glad to hear you like it. I looked at building a 6BR but ended up getting a Howa Carbon Stalker in 6ARC. The loads seem to be very similar though, I’m shooting 103 ELD-X just over 2800fps. Hoping to get at least one deer with it this year.

draw to 95s for me is that you could push em faster with the small cases.

Assume there’s some typos in this. What are you saying?

don’t think the loss in BC will make up for increase in velocity with the tmk. That’s assuming .245 g7 for the tmk and .275 for the 108gr.. can rerun the numbers but you’d have to exceed 2950 on the 95gr tmk to increase danger space over the 108 at 2800. the 90gr scenar has a very small bearing surface and it’s a 2950fps bullet catching pressure with temp stable powders in same barrel that makes 108’s hit 2800.

Referencing this article I’d think the suspicions are truehttps://rifleshooter.com/2017/10/6mm-br-load-development/

Could be wrong. Accurate shooter says 95gr Vld drift less then 105 at 500 from a 6br.It’d be worth checking out. But for now concerning availability and price and how much I know 108’s work, it’s hard to look elsewhere.

Exactly. The 6ARC, 6 BR, 6x45, and other small cases could run it at speeds that would give you lower recoil with the same danger zone.

Jay

I can’t tell the difference in recoil between a 90gr and a 105gr in a 6br. Today was shooting a 223 with 27.7gr lvr 75gr eld-m and a 30gr varget 108 6br back to back and recoil impulse is very similar. The 6br has a lighter scope and 1.5” more barrel but a slightly thicker barrel but they are nearly copies.

If anything the less blast from the 6mm seems less so recoil seems less.
