Does anybody have one? I’m looking to get a synthetic bag for hunts that have a higher chance of me getting wet, I saw this bag mentioned in a sheep hunting book.

Im a bit torn on this as I know that the north face has gone down in quality since the book was written but it seems like this bag has gone through a few iterations and improvements over the years.

tempted to order since they are cheap right now and this bag will just be another bag in the stable since I don’t have any synthetic bags at the moment. Seems ok for 2lb 7oz, gets good reviews.

I have an older 20* cat's meow. Never left me wanting, really. I've since bought a much lighter weight down quilt but I keep the NF bag handy as a back up or loaner or if really nasty, wet weather is expected.

I've used mine with puffy gear down to some very cold temps.

Solid synthetic bag for the price and weight.

I used one for for years! It has never let me (or my wife) down.
Still have it, and use it about 50% of the time, weather dependent.

I've had a 20 degree Cat's Meow since probably the mid 90s. Such a great bag that I never felt the need to get something newer until this year. I've slept countless nights in it and still nearly as good as the day I bought it. I'm sure they've changed a lot since though, mine weighs in at 4 lbs. I think I'm going to try out the Kifaru Slick Bag this year.

I used a Cats Meow from 90-96 backpacking 3 seasons in the Sierra Nevada. It was a great value and never let me down. You could spend a heck of lot more and not be any better off. Hope you enjoy yours.

seems crazy this bag doesn’t get mentioned more on places like rokslide, I’ve yet to find a really bad review And for the price....I was going to get another slick bag for sheep hunting this year but why when these seem great for 125.00?

I have one, used it in AK a bunch. No complaints. I have no clue what’s new and great for sleeping bags. Hell last time I even looked at sleeping bags I’m pretty sure there wasn’t the term “sleep system”.

mine is also of the 4 lb weight, and now you got me curious. Where did you get it on sale?

I have had 3 in the last 25 years, including one I tore up abusing it in the military. They are great and for the money, I feel like there probably still the gold standard for a balance of quality and value for a sleeping bag. If I had a gripe, may latest one is narrow through the shoulders which sent me in other directions. My current go to is a Nemo forte and an EE quilt. My son now owns the cats meow and it has years of service left in it.

Just joined Rokslide today. I’m also getting ready for my first CO elk trip. Ive been looking at bags and appreciate all the comments about the Cat’s Meow from those with experience. Just pulled the trigger on one!

Very appreciative about finding this post. Doing my first September backpack hunt this year and from what I see above and from reviews on other sites it sounds like the Cat's Meow will be a great sleeping bag, at least to get started.

I do have a question however, most reviews have been positive but I did notice a few mentions on other sites that it is somewhat narrow in the shoulders. I'm 6'4, 240 with fairly athletic build and I'm not great at fitting into tight spaces, anyone with any insight in if that could be an issue? It also seems like the Long is 78", would I be best looking into the X-Long for the extra 3 ounce weight penalty? Thanks!

I just got the bag a few days ago, it fits me fine, not as roomy as my badger but it will do. I slept a night out in my boat to test it out and I was plenty warm and comfortable.

What size bag and what size body? Broad in the shoulders?

How cold did it get?

Curious. I want a bag and now is a good time to buy. They have a bunch of other models but this one is nice and compact.

I have a 20 degree extra long if anyone’s interested in buyin it. It’s in very good shape, I just can’t do mummy bags and made the switch to a quilt

I got the long version that’s good for 6’6, I’m 6’4 and about 200lbs right now, fairly wide shoulders but nothing crazy.

LOL. We do not match for size that's for sure.

I ordered one. Regular/right hand. Got a health care worker discount so it was a good deal. Hoping to spend some overnights away from the road this coming Fall.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I used one for a couple years. It’s an all around good bag. Certainly not the lightest or the warmest and doesn’t compress the smallest but for the price it’s pretty hard to beat.

Seems like a great 20 degree bag at only 2lbs 7oz, great reviews, and low price.

Another bag often touted as great value is the Marmot Helium 15, and it’s only 6oz lighter than the Cat’s Meow, and the Helium sale prices are $300.

How is the compressibility on the Cat’s Meow? I’m guessing that may be the big difference between this bag and the $300-500 bags in the same temp rating range (15-20 degree)?
