The Nilgai Post

If you’re talking to me, I’d remember your face and/or your name but trying to remember a guest/hunter based off of a few posts on an internet message board is pretty tough.
I am sorry that you’re disappointed in the processing but like I said, bring coolers and ice next time. I’d be more than happy to skin/quarter for you.

I can't believe you do not remember me. I made sure my hunting partners tipped you well. They thought $100 was acceptable. I made sure it was 10% of the hunt. Not sure what they actually did, but I put in my 2 cents for guided hunts.

Hahahahaha well I appreciate your help! Good gratuity is always appreciated. I literally do 40-60 nilgai hunts per season so they all tend to run together but you definitely have me searching my memory banks. I honestly can’t even remember the last time I saw one shot up the rear end.

Here are a few from the past several hunts. Two of these bulls have some of the biggest age ridges I’ve seen in 26 years of doing this. These are ancient old bulls that have slipped through the cracks and avoided hunters for years. I only have a couple more hunts before I’m done for the summer. Already looking forward to starting over chasing gorillas in October. Hope y’all enjoy!

The outfitter that I am booked with is adamant that I use his firearms and optics. The irony is that I have my own that I put time to affirm accuracy, foot pounds of energy and confidence in to put down LARGE animals. He wants us to hunt at night. “F” that. I want a spot and stalk hunt. I like to hunt. Not just shoot one and pound my chest. It’s not about the kill. It’s about the adventure.
Make no mistake I want to be successful. But, it’s my hunt. Let all tell their collective outfitters to listen to your wants. Within reason of course. MTG

I would not have booked with him before finding that stuff out.

Did you describe your “wants” before booking? At this point in the nilgai game, it’s well known some guys are only night time guides. If you booked one of these guys, their property may not be worth a crap during the day and you may just be “stalking” through waist high sorghum farm fields for multiple days. Lol

It’s just the way it is. Depending on who you booked with, there’s guys down here that call themselves “outfitters” but they’ve really just got access to a farm field where they feed at night.

BUT you should’ve expressed your “wants” beforehand.
