The Madison

Just what we need is two more shows from Paramount luring people to nirvana in Montana :(

Whoever is writing Marshals appears he's never talked to anyone who's actually worked for the Marshal's Service—extra, extra hokey!

I refused to watch Yellowstone out of principal, I'll double down on Madison, but will go out on a limb that in two years they'll come out with the Gallatin.

We started to watch Yellowstone a few years ago. I turned it off in one of the first episodes when there was a scene with “cowboys” fly fishing on horseback. The scene was so contrived it made me gag, and I figured if that was what the writers believed Montana was about, that was as much of the series I needed to see.

Yellowstone was stupid, but entertaining. 1883 was really good, 1923 meh.

I think I’m over the Sheridan shows?

Wind River was his best work I’ve seen anyway.

I told my wife, “native Montanans must HATE Taylor Sheridan.”

Madison 1st episode was good.

1883 all I could think of was “by that time there were trains into Montana, why don’t they get on one??”

Feel like Sheridan movies are generally better than shows. Props to the guy for showing some unsung parts of ranch life, and he clearly loves good country music, but his shows are just too predictable

Agreed. I gave it another chance but from a guy who raises cattle, some of the ranchin scenes were laughable

I spend a couple months in Montana fly fishing and while the fishing is excellent, and I say that only if you are an accomplished fly fisherman. The trout in the Madison, Missouri and Gallatin which are the main rivers I fish are not stocked trout and have seen every dry fly and nymph imaginable. That being said the rivers can be very crowded while if you are willing to walk a mile or have a drift boat you can usually get away from the crowd. Should be interesting this summer to see if this series (The Madison) brings a new influx of anglers.
