The Hunting Public Pig Broadhead Testing

Hey everyone,

Just wanted to start out by saying I’m not hating on The Hunting Public. I generally like those guys even if I don’t consume their content all that often. I recently watched their broadhead rotation rest on a dead pig. Last year they did similar testing. I’ve been hunting for 20 years this year and I’m not sure if it’s me but I think using a dead animal for testing is a pretty bad look. I could hardly even watch the video and I’ve killed a lot of animals. I’ve seen other YouTubers in the past use bones and gel to simulate the testing which is far more respectful in my opinion. I like the idea of testing broadheads on the actual animals but why do you have to post it on YouTube. Do the testing and make a video about your findings and if people wanna see the “cadaver “ video it could be posted to your website. I just think this gives a bad look to the non hunting public if they were to come across this video.

With saying all that let me know if I’m an idiot or getting sensitive or hitting the mark. I really am just curious if this is something we should be self policing to try and stop hurting the hunting image.

Interesting choice for first post and introduction thread, welcome to Rokslide
Figured might as well come out swinging and get my licks in. JK. Just have had a growing concern for the future of hunting for my 2 year old son. But ya I agree probably a bit much for a first post.

I get the sentiment.

But... My "shorts" feed is loaded with dudes blasting hogs by the hundreds from helicopters and guys mag dumping on them with thermals.

I don't think shooting a dead one with a few arrows is doing nearly as much harm

Would rather they did testing on live pigs?

Option 1-
"Which BH for pigs?"

"Dunno, just go shoot live pigs and see how ya go"

Option 2-
"Which BH for pigs?"

"Well we have all this data from shooting at an actual pig..........."

Fair point.

I believe Dr Ashby did his testing on dead animals. Folks continue to "debate" his conclusions but I don't think anyone complained about more holes in a dead water buffalo or whatever he used.
