The Hobbit Rifle

I am thinking about an SBR on a 15" pencil barrel. I have an HB I can turn down and thread. I have a stock somewhere that is lighter than my laminated wood butt stock from Choate. I may look into a Carbon Fiber model but it must be a folder with adjustable LOP. Will have to save up a while for AG anything as I have heavily invested in parts and barrels to build some ULULs with other projects going on simultaneously. (A lightweight AR 10 in 358 Winchester at the moment.

I think I might have found the new hobbit rifle setup… under $700, 14” 6 arc barrel (and it sounds like they are throated LONG) with an arca forend… not sure on weight but i think there will be one in my future.
If I recall correctly the listed weight says like 3.7 lbs and then I found a post from someone that bought one and he said it was actually like 5.3 lbs.

MGM announced they will have carbon fiber barrels available in the next couple weeks. They also said it’s about 1pound of weight savings over a stainless barrel.

That is really good to know. I was about to order a custom barrel in 280AI from MGM but will definetly wait to check out their new carbon fiber offerings first.

I'm new here, and not sure if this is frowned upon, and if so let me know and I will delete but I plan to list for sale in the classifieds a 20" custom Bullberry Encore barrel in 260 rem, with a fast 1:8 twist that I had made a number of years ago and really never ended up using as much as I planned since I had originally intended to use it for deer and really changed focus to Elk and preferred to carry something a bit bigger. It's a relatively light profile barrel and makes for an extremely compact package, I like carrying it in the mountains and the lack of a bolt to catch on the side of your pack is a nice little side bonus so I want to more or less replicate it (but probably in 22inch), just in a 280AI.
