Our son is addicted to waterfowl hunting, so getting him to break away from that to big game hunt has proven tough at times. All season he has been trying to get me to let him shoot one of the little bucks or does we have at the house so he can waterfowl hunt more. We lost a lot of deer to EHD this fall so I’ve been talking him into leaving our house deer alone. I finally gave in and told him (jokingly) he could because “The heart wants what the heart wants”. We ended up not seeing any house deer after that. Fast forward to last weekend when we find a spike Mule Deer Buck and I asked him if he was sure he wanted to try and shoot a small mule deer, because they have been getting hammered. He replied with “Dad, the heart wants what the heart wants”. Who am I to hold him back. He paid for his tags anyway
