Going through some stuff, found an old catalog.

Maybe it's salt in the eye, but might be eye opener for some of the younger guys, and it's not even that old.

My old man told local reloading shop owner he was a crook when 4831 price was raised to $20/lb and primers $25/1k. His first job paid $.60/hr for reference.

In '18 maybe I remember $36-38 for Varget and retumbo.


Sub $20 is definitely ahead of that.

Yeah you're right, I just looked at the primer page and remember getting large rifle magnum cci for 29.99 at sportsmans in 2018

Primers took a lot longer, definitely they were the better quick buck investment.


They gained 10x almost overnight it seemed.

I remember days of 20 something bricks of primers for sure. Sure wish those days would come back. 50$ a pound for powder is crazy. I bout shit the first time I saw 50$ on a 1 pound jug of Varget.

It seems like they might be coming down from their peak. Atleast small rifle and pistol.

Large rifle is still a mess. And I really don't think they will ever go down to anywhere near the "good ole days"

Maybe we can hope for $50-60 bricks but I doubt it.

Anyone remember when 100 CCI primers large rifle cost less than 2 bucks a box, 2018 wasn’t that far off, I remember when my dad would re-load 12 ga shot shells for around a buck a box. I could ride my bicycle to the local country store and buy shotgun shells for 15 cents a piece before he started loading them and 22 shorts were around 50 cents a box. Check out prices mid 60s early 70s

I found some large rifle magnum primers today and I was happy to pay $100 for them. It's a sad reality.

In all fairness, I haven't seen any LRM primers in over 2 years.

Circa 2016 I recall 8# of Hodgdon and reloder powders being around $160 online.

I think I still have some H414 that I bought when I first got into reloading more seriously. It was around 2010 I believe. Tags still on it... $24.99 a pound

I bought 2 bricks of Federal 215M match primers for $35/brick right before Covid in 2019. CCI 200's and 250's in the mid $20's a couple years before that. Smokeless powders were mostly in the $20's then too. I remember wondering why H1000 was $30 when most the others I used were mid $20's. Thankfully I bought a 5# jug of BH209 for $200 before Covid as well.

I’m not even 50 yet, been reloading maybe 15+ years but only really paying attention for 5. Still had one of these floating around.

$14 not a bad price for a lb!
