The 22UM

What made you land on the -06 variety over others?

It's a psyop to convert the Fudd Legion over to small caliber, bridging the divide with God's Cartridge Case.

Joking aside, I'm looking forward to hearing how this project goes, quite a bit. The length and case geometry should allow for at least 1 more round in a mag, and allow for better feeding.

Speaking of feeding, @Formidilosus , did you go with AI'd shoulders?

I have been thinking about building a 22-06. I think it's going to be about the biggest case that will work well for heavy .22 cal. bullets. I beleive the '06 case holds about 10-15 grains more than the Creed.

The 22UM seemed to suffer from being too fat, with too small a hole, and too sharp a shoulder. It also was a pain in the arse to resize.

I am overall just not enamored with ultra fat short cases- they are hard to work with, and are generally rougher feeding. I think the 22-06 will be similar MV, but with WAY less headaches. Also…. It isn’t modern and a “good” case design. And that makes me happy.

I'd be curious about this too.
Are the fury cases shaped like a Creed? So would it be as high pressure 22 Creed?

Even more interesting since my rifle is an Sig Cross so it "should" handle the 277 fury pressures... SHOULD...

They are closer to 308 size, all you have to do is FL size and fire form to make 308 Fury.

I think the easiest way to make a 22 cal Fury is to size down the 308 Fury to 7-08 and then 243 and then 22-243.

There are some dudes making Creedmoor cases but there seemed to be some limitations of which I can't recall the details about any longer.

@Formidilosus has a 22-284 been ruled out? Similar case capacity as 06 family and not as short and fat as SAUM. Could still keep in short action. I was looking into this through a Google search and heaviest bullet I found tested was 75 amax a few years back

Nothing ruled out. But, being it’s used in a Tikka, SA doesn’t mean much. If the straight 22-06 doesn’t do what’s desired for MV- it will be AI’d.
