The 22 creedmoor thread

I did this for my dad. With shipping and everything I think we paid around $375 or so. This barrel shoots great with 80gr bullets or less, but doesn’t like 85/88’s. We haven’t tried the new 88TMK out of it. No regrets but with some of the barrel deals out there it’s hard not to just buy new.

Yeah for that much might as well buy a PB.

I bought two PBB. 18" 1:8 twist. One for a dedicated night rig and the other a day rig. They both shoot factory precision match, with the 80 eldm, right at 1.5" group on a 10 shot at 100yds. Going 3150 fps. I got them to .75" on 10 shot group with 73 eldm doing 3350. factory 80s were loaded at .050 off the lands, these rigs like it .015 to .020 off. Was doing some playing last night and have some 69 eldvts ready to go, should hit north of 3450 so we will see. Hoping to get into town and grab some 62 eldvts and see if we can get them closer to 3600. Barrels are cheap, let them scream!

For the lathe jockey doing the work...it's more times than not actually more work because he's got to get things squared to where they were at the factory and then see how straight that is to the bore. A lot of guys won't do them.

You're better off to buy a new barrel from a known manufacturer and have it chambered. My opinion...

In case anyone was wondering: yes, an 80 gr ELDM is enough to tackle a pissed off rattlesnake. Might have shit myself a little 😂😂

Was on a steep hike (sheep hunt coming up soon) and was packing my 22 Creed for rock chucks. Should have brought my pistol instead 😂

80 grain eld-m. I made a poor first shot, requiring a follow. Golf ball size entry no exit.

Anyone loading this for lighter bullets? I have been jumping all over and now I'm frozen. Haven't really settled on anything as its so hot here that I'm hitting pressure quickly. Anyone have any ideas for a 62gr eldvt? I want to Ricky Bobby this thing, but don't want to load winter and summer rounds.

I shoot the 62 gr ELDVT at 3650 out of my 22” 1:7.5 Bartlein. Varget is the ticket. I pushed it past 3700 but those RPMs were really up there and didn’t want to risk jackets separation. Has worked well on a couple coyotes and raccoons.

In my 22-250 AI, I have the 53 gr Vmax going a tad over 3700 which has been wrecking rock chucks and prairie dogs. I’m tempted to try them in my 1:8 22 Creed in a bit.

Thank you for this. How many grains of varget? I haven’t tried it yet as it didn’t have the speed max the other powders did in the loading manual. I’m on a 1:8 twist PBB in a tikka action 18”.
