The 22 creedmoor thread

I’m waiting on my .22-250 Tikka 1:8” twist to get back from having a new stock made, but I plan to shoot the new 88-grain TMK in it. I intend to shoot that barrel out before I switch to 22 Creed (or something similar).

Based on what Form wrote about the 1:8” and the new 88-grain, I expect it will work well. But, if not, the 77-grain will be just fine.
Brilliant, thank you. I'd be more than happy running the 77tmk based on the carnage I've seen it cause on here. Only going to be for smallish game anyway.

Gotta add that to the project list now 🤙🤙

If a guy was wanting to re chamber a 22-250 1/8 twist tikka to 22 creed, at what projectile weight would the 1/8 twist be a hindrance?

Im around sea level, so no altitude issues to factor in.
Buy a box of the 88’s and just see how they do in your rig. If they shoot great, go forth and prosper. If they don’t, here’s your backup:

77tmk with 39-40gr H4350 (ADI AR2209 is the aussi equivalent I think?) will be perfect for a 1/8” twist barrel.

My 16 inch barrel shot this 22 creed load exceptionally well. 3050-3100fps.

I'm at sea level too.

Factory barrel that is kaput:

77gr Bullets:

22-250:

36-36.5gr H4350 2.480 OAL 77gr TMK 3093fps

Form just stated 1:8 is not adequate at lower DA’s. He said 4k is fine but they don’t know exactly where the threshold is.

Makes sense. It's obvious from dope charts that elevation increases stability.

But that elevation correlates to internal ballistics and stabilizing is interesting.

I remembered that February thread differently. But I was focused on shooting them at 3000-4000 DA from my .22-250.

This is promising though:

Regardless, an 8 twist probably isn’t the best option. I just plugged 90 grain SMK into AB in an 8 twist. Sg=1.22 @2600fps. It’s only up to 1.31 @3200 fps. Both at sea level. Would you agree?

Best option? No. But so far, 1:8” factory barrels in 22CM are stabilizing them just fine.

That and I’ll add if you want an 88 ELDM specific freebore it’d be approximately .170”. That puts the shank ~.050” above the neck shoulder junction at touch and the OAL still has plenty of room to fit most all common magazines and boxes.
What would the OAL be with this specific freebore and the 88eld at touch
~2.770”
After a quick look with 88TMK’s it’s pretty much the same. Base of the bullet shank in the neck with the TMK is pretty much the same as well. Basically an equal swap or near equal swap between the two 88’s.

Can confirm from my 223ai - 88ELDM and 88TMK both touch lands at same OAL +- a couple thousandths
