The 22 creedmoor thread

Nice shot! That's some crazy velocity!

My 17" 22cm shoots the 80 eldm at 3125.

Only three more inches of barrel and you're getting 400+fps.

Can you share your load data?
76 grain Absolute Hammer
OAL 2.508
43 grns R17
Velocity 3,550fps

Note that the Absolute Hammer is a unique solid copper bullet and this load shouldn't be used with ordinary cup and core type bullets without working up.

By comparison I have a load I use for a 74 grn cup and core bullet (with a Berger J4 Jacket) and that's 42.5grns R17 for 3,400fps.

I also use the 70 grn Nosler Accubond.
OAL 2.490
43grn H4350
Haven't chronographed but estimate 3450 fps. The validated dope works at that.

ok, a lot have complained about barrel life on the 22Creed. being and older gentleman, what is the issue? I was raised with 22-250 AI and 220 Swift shooting 50-55 gr, bullets at 3900 to 4200 fps. Can anyone explain to me why the 22 Creed. is harder on barrels than either of these

Running your barrel so hot, you can burn fried eggs on it. will drastically reduce barrel life. If your not cleaning every 100-150 rounds you deserve what you get. I have read through the entire thread. It seems there a few with common cents

I think the requirement of frequent barrel
Cleaning has been debunked fairly regularly on this forum, but to each their own.

I do agree on abusing your barrel with long/fast shot strings will reduce life.

Got my action back from UM that was sent in for nitriding. Didn’t touch the scope and reinstalled the action and it maintained zero. Here’s a 15 shot group from yesterday.

The mirage off my can was getting pretty bad and caused the group to open up a bit towards the end.
