The 22 creedmoor thread

I could fireform my brass and come back.
That’s a sweet shooting rifle.

I agree with @mxgsfmdpx you have a load that is shooting. The extra velocity won’t get you a whole lot more, unless you are shooting to kill past 550 and want better wind and drop, for better percentages.

Shoot all the brass once, then bump up the load after it is settled in.

I can’t hunt that far and wouldn’t, but according to my calculator I’m at 1799fps at 700 yards. I think it’ll be fine

Totally capable.

I know my 14” 22 creed is good to 550 and it’s under 2800 fps at the muzzle. I like the 18” for a bit better drift and drop, but it is not super crucial inside 500. Drift is barely more than 0.1 on 5mph wind and about .2 with 10 mph wind.

Here is data at 1200 ft and 50 degrees.

My biggest gripe at the moment is the 1.6mil drop difference at 1000. I wouldn’t hunt that far but do enjoy shooting it at the range. I built this cause the 223 just doesn’t get there

1,000 plus is a lot of fun with 22 creeds. Lots of times it is difficult to distinguish hits on steel through the scope. So make sure you either have a spotter calling for you or your phone hooked to a spotting scope or binos and rolling video so you can review. This way you avoid making wind corrections or elevation corrections to shots that were actually hits 👍🏻

Daughter stoned this young guy at about 50 yards this evening. Frontal shot. Not exactly sure where she hit yet. 77 grain tmk probably at an impact speed of 2928. Instant death. I'll skin him out tomorrow and see what happened. Gutting him was just the usual mess. Though an interesting note was the heart was super soft. Not sure what causes this. But usually a heart is firm. This thing is like flubber.

She also shot a button buck at about 60. Behind the shoulder I believe. Thought maybe she was back a little because the liver was cut in half. Bullet isn't go out. Went in and "exploded".

Definitely sold on the 77 tmks and the creed. Especially over the 6.5. The girl said it was a lot funner to shoot too.

Honestly I'm looking forward to having my 223 trainer for this gimmie road hunting. But the 16.5" sig cross is handy for a truck gun.
