The 22 creedmoor thread

Fellow 22 creed lovers.... I am surely overanalyzing but want some opinions. Have a sheep tag this year and have 2 different loads looking good for the 18" barrel.

77 TMK @ 3130 FPS (7 at 400 yards)

or

88 ELDM @ 3030 (8 or 9 at 415 yards)

Both options seem to shoot equal out to the 400 yards I have tested. Does a guy go with the better documented wound channel of the 77 or the better wind deflection of the 88??

77 is a 5 MPH gun... 88 is a 6 MPH gun. Not a substantial difference, but something. In fact, the elevation I am hunting it will probably be more like 6 and 7.
Shoot whichever one tickles your fancy and happens to be sighted in with a good lot/load at the time of the hunt.

If I HAD to choose, it would be the 77 TMK between those two.

Wasn't sure if I'd need more on a spiral 3b.

On a Sendero or Light Palma it's common for as many as 8 but on a 3b I'm not sure. 4 at least and mby 6. I'd give them a call and ask what they recommend. I've had pretty good luck getting ahold of them on the phone.

Also depends on the look you want or weight you want to drop.

Thanks Man,

Not too worried about looks since it's going on an Sig so the handgaurd will cover it.

Definitely want to save some weight. I'll give them a call!

Any huge terminal differences between the 80 gr eldm and eldx? Or is the 77 gr TMK still king?

Huge? No.

Repeated instances of slightly more consistent killing wounds with 80 ELDXs and 77 TMKs over 80 and 88 Ms? Yes.

This is the same with 103 Xs versus 108 Ms but look how many dozens and dozens of 108 M big game kills are on this forum…

They all kill. Hunt with whatever you’re loading up and sighted in for at the time, and/or what the gun shoots best.

Did a little pressure test with 75 ELDMs in alpha 1x fired brass. Did H4350 and N555. Here was the velocities. Didn’t hit pressure with those loads. Might give the 75’s a go for coyotes this winter

The ELDM will give more reliable and greater expansion with adequate penetration. The ELDX better penetration, less expansion, less blood trauma, and from time to time will inexplicably pencil. I use both but prefer the ELDM. They fly the same and shoot into the same group/zero.
I haven't noticed any discernible difference between the 80 ELDM and the 77 TMK. Both are spectacular killers.

Perfect. Thanks guys. Thanks for the barrel pics too.

Anyone done a Plus P throating on a 22 Creed?
