The 22 creedmoor thread

Played with 4 different 80 ELDX loads this morning with @huntnful

Settled on 41 grains of H4350 using Alpha brass averaging 3260 FPS from my suppressed 20" McGowen 8 twist Tikka barrel. That's 110 FPS faster average out of this gun than the current "hot" factory Hornady 80 ELDX lot of ammo I've been shooting lately.

Final 6 shots at 100 yards after adjusting down 0.2 MILs from the factory ammo sight in...

5/8" center to center on the horizontal and 3/4" on the vertical. Longest center to center diagonal is right at 3/4". Left the scope somewhere around 8X and honestly didn't even really "try hard" to shoot for a "tight group".

Easily the most accurate 80 ELDX load I've shot from 3 different 22 Creedmoor Tikkas.

Definitely test with those loads wet. My 40g of H4350 in Alpha brass and a Tikka, albeit with an ACE .219 1:7.5 barrel, went from fine to very heavy bolt lift and pronounced swipes when the ammo and chamber got wet from blowing snow.

What power magnification do you guys use for shooting groups? I use lower for hunting and increase quite a bit when testing loads. I'm curious what others do that are shooting some of these tight groups.

I shoot a lot of groups on 15-20X depending on how bad the mirage is

I run a 4x20 leupold vx 5 hd on my 22 creed typical run 10-15 power but if im deleting somthing waaaay out there it gets a 20x bump.... my 300 prc 5.5x22 my 223 ai a 3-15 leupold vx 5 hd.... and I have a spare vx 6 4x24x52 waiting on a project.

Depends on the weight of the rifle. My 9.5lb AP I can zoom up to 12 -14. Under 9lbs and I stay between 8-10. If lighter than 8lbs I shoot 6-8.
I believe I have poor form as that reticle will
Bounce with my heartbeat. I’ll take a class soon enough to learn proper technique.

15x with the RS 1.2. Basically shooting groups on paper at 100 yards to dial in a load is the only time I shoot at 15x and the usual reasons of why you don't want to shoot at such high magnification don't apply.

1,000 yards on steel, I'm often at 10-12x. Anything closer, more often 6-8x.
