The 22 creedmoor thread

Took 5 min and swapped barrels on my Zeus QC. Previous 18” 6 CM to a 20” 22 CM. Might sneak to the range after dinner to get some quick rounds down range with it. Planning to load 69 TMKs for varmints this spring/summer. My other 22 CM pushes the 62 gr ELDVT to 3650, so hoping to keep the 69 TMK around 3500 + with a 2” shorter barrel.

Awesome!! Keep us posted!!

What pushed you away from the ELDVT to the TMK?

Terminal performance for a varmint bullet. I’ve shot a lot of jack rabbits and they aren’t very explosive compared to the 88 ELDM.

A week ago, I shot a raccoon at about 150 yards with the 62 and it just knocked it over. No exit whatsoever. The 62 might actually be a decent fur friendly bullet though.

That’s cool to hear. I was gonna try the 62’s on coyotes but heard a lot of mixed reviews. A lot of guys said they were having bad results with them on coyotes. Being too splashy at high speeds and having to shoot coyotes multiple times.

300 pieces of 22CM brass almost prepped. Head space between my last barrel and new barrel were only .001 difference. So I’m just going to keep shooting the same brass.

New barrel is a 26” Brux. #5 contour. 1-8 twist

Only took it out one day. Tested a few charges and settled on 40.5gr. H4350 with an 80 ELDM up close to the lands for now. I’ll get more rounds down the barrel before any more testing.

Nice! I was in between the 77tmk or 80 eldm. What made you go eldm over the tmk?

I ordered 500 tmk to start, but might grab a bunch of the eldm/x to try out as well.

I wounder if n555 would get ya into the 3430 bracket. My 22 creedmore just got finished i go to pick it up next week I'm running a 22" 1-8" twist built it on a iota x carbon stock and stiller predator action.proof research barrel.

They’re just cheap and available. I won’t hunt big game with it, so wasn’t super concerned about ideal bullet performance.

I took it up to almost 3500 with H4350. Just don’t need to shoot it that fast is all. That’s a pretty hot charge, and wasn’t the best grouping either. I do long barrels so that I don’t have to squeeze out every once of speed to feel satisfied 😅.

Dangggggg!! Good luck dude! Yeah if it was my main hunting rifle, I’d probably be putting a little more work/testing into it. Just because lol.

Took the Proof 22 CM prefit for a spin last night and shot 40 rounds of Mead ammo through it (77gr and 85 gr BTHP). It took a few shots to settle in, then it seemed to print pretty decent groups.

Here's the 77 gr groups. 5 shots each at 100 yards (square is 1") shot in pretty quick succession. 3061.7 Avg and ES of 120 for 20 rounds.

The 85 gr Mead ammo did fairly well. My Garmin ran out of battery, so only got speeds for 10 rounds. Avg of 2908 and ES of 45.

Same 5 shot groups as above
