We can say, hiking up that mountain was a bitch, we can't call someone a bitch as well, this is supposed to be a family friendly site, so the vulgar language is to be kept to a minimum.



I'm pretty certain everyone knows where the line is, but some just want to complain no matter what. Not like I haven't gotten into it with mods a few times, but it's the internet and you just say so what. You either let it go or just move on. Nobody has to participate, as far as I know.

Last I heard, I had the longest thread on there when trying to sell an 80's 700 30-06 for a friend back in 2004ish. Couple of guys got into a pissing match and it took off. Never did sell that rifle.

I read it to see what is going on. Sometimes they are ahead of things. However , some of them are just mean and mad. That usually when I move on.

Occasionally I read hunttalk but I left them because they are too political, liberal, and anti all of the resource industries. We have enough democrat loonies without adding liberal hunters that hate ranchers, loggers and miners.

He made a claim that he had threads removed for no real reason other than that staff was not getting any at home. After checking his account history, it was a complete lie. Bringing someone’s personal life into the situation is completely unnecessary. That whole comment was basically written as a no win situation for us, makes us look guilty by taking action whether appropriate or not if we take no action it could be interpreted as true. If we ignored that comment there would be similar ones coming up overtime that just creates more of a problem. He had very few posts in eight years, but decided that comment was worthy of posting so you tell me how he really felt coming onto a free forum benefiting from it by mostly participating in the classifieds then throws out that comment? I’m not saying that we are perfect. I am not saying that I am perfect. I have been in trouble. I do read other forms. I see a lot of people on this forum, talking a lot of crap and a lot of blatant lies on other forms about their experience here, nothing I can really do about that however, there are also a few who respectfully expressed their grievances about Rokslide, but they also stay respectful while they continue to be on Rokslide, which is perfectly fine. We have also let people express their criticism of us here, but we do shut it down when it becomes repeated and targeted harassment. In this case, as I said, it was a lie, and then bringing stupid childish accusations in along with it. I have no idea who you are. I don’t believe we’ve ever had an issue with each other before? Maybe you have some bottled up grievances with this forum as well? That is fine within certain limits of respecting the house that you’re visiting.
Out of respect for this thread to not be derailed any further, we can continue to discuss this somewhere else if you or anyone else feels the need.

The 24 Hour Campfire is friggin' awesome. When you get away from the main campfire sub-forum, the noise, save for a few members in a few places is low, and the quality of the info is high. I like the spicy nature of the campfire sub-forum. There is not a more free place in all of social media. I'll say this too. Everything is not as it appears to the uninitiated. Sometimes what appears to be mortal combat is two buds busting each other's balls. To people who aren't there somewhat regularly, there is missing context.

Every now and then a member over there will say he got banned here. I'll come look at the "offense" and the previous 50 of the member's posts, and it can be for something as simple as questioning the drop test.

I am thankful that there are options in social media.

Tinman isn't a liar. He's honest to a fault. The "not getting any comment" was obviously a tongue in cheek comment, as he would have no way of knowing what's going on in anyone's home. Correct? To the non-defensive, unbiased reader It was his way of saying "at the whim of a moderator."

There's a lot of banter here that is usually friendly, but from outside reads hostile.

Thats fine if you want the forum to be that wat, but the forum makes money from traffic. It can be the same 25 people who create the traffic, or it can be a place is generating new users/traffic. A place that just has the regulars giving each other shit back and forth, doesn't read that way to outsiders and drives away new traffic. I guess the same was said of memes here, apparently too many people getting bashed in memes, so we had to stop.


Point is a couple people going back and forth doesn't keep the lights on. Owners here have their thoughts on how they want it run, and those are the rules you play by.

I do sometimes wonder how much people who take time to complain on forums about the forum, actually have going on in their life. Everyone handles things differently, but I sure don't waste my effort typing out much that's just bitching, especially since I have actual things to stress over in the real world.
