Thank you Form I’m now a mk12 believer

They are excellent in all of that. Probably the best hard use, modern AR platform on the market. They and the PRI handguard with top rail are probably the two most flex resistant options on the market. As a precision platform, the MK12 still bests the LMT. But, the LMT mono rail is an excellent platform, when combined with a rifle length gas 18” barrel, and Ops Inc suppressor system- they good.

Thank you ! 2026 is shaping up to be expensive... sounds like the rifle length gas system is pretty important.

As a general question about the PRI Mark 12 mod 0 gen 2, is the 1/7 or 1/8 twist preferable, or is there any real difference? I’d be shooting the 77 TMK primarily. Thank you

How does one determine the gen? I’ve been asked several times about the one I have in the classifieds but I have no idea.

Got the OCM5 today and was able to play around with it a bit with creemoor 77gr TMK and 855. Tough to tell with janky rest but groups still good. Was able to punish cans at 100 yards. Gun seems to be VERY overgassed. Brass ejecting way out in front and recoil is bouncy. Also realized my BCM mil spec trigger is pretty dang trashy.

But in all, did pretty good for a non-PRI mk12 inspired thingy. White oak 16" SPR upper, ops brake and collar, OCM5, hodge-podge lower. Hopefully I'll get to do some serious shooting with it soon.

Yours is a gen III- the external handguard nut is how you know.

Between Brouer, PRI, and any others making Mod 0s, are there any on the lighter side that have good precision performance? Doesn't one of them make a variant with a carbon fiber handguard, etc? Interested in the most precision with the least weight penalty.

Do you have a H2 buffer in?

The PRI mod 0 handguard is carbon fiber.

Just dug into those, they don't seem to be as heavy as they look. Prices are pretty reasonable too, given the performance they seem to be known for.

Separately, I'm realizing some of the limitations of my LPVOs on short/fast drills, and am thinking it's time to get a good dot or holo for the home defense gun. Something that allows for easier target-focus, without the objective/body/parallax causing issues. Maybe a T2 or EOTech, but I have almost no experience with them - what would you recommend for that application? Something meant for close-in, wouldn't get pushed past 200-300yds, may or may not get a magnifier...completely open to any option.

No, just a carbine buffer. I was trying to decide if i should order an H2 or H3.

I should get to get some proper groups out of it tomorrow but I dont think I'll shoot it a whole hell of a lot until I get the correct buffer in it and a better scope. It has a leupold Mk3HD on it right now. Trying to whack a deer with it before the season closes and its way good enough for that right now.

Definitely a huge fan though and im upset it took until 2024 for me to know that it was possible to get AR15s to shoot this good.

My PRI mk12 mod 0 upper is just under MOA with 10 rd groups of Bonefrog TMKs. It's also a portly girl at 13 lbs with AEM5, RS1.2, and an ACS stock. Worth the weight to tote around, and a delight with NV or thermal.

I am a huge fan of the Eotech reticle and window. Not a huge fan of some of the issues that have plagued them over the years (lens delamination, thermal drift). Have not played with the newest generation, but my main 11.5" still wears an Eotech in spite of all that. If you go with a magnifier, Eotech is the winner there.

That’s the easiest question on this board- any of the full size Aimpoints. The Pro, ACO, Comp M4.

An H2 (or 3) will help greatly. If guns firm run with an H2 buffer, something is wrong.

Sweet, I'll get the H2 coming. I was waiting for you to tell me what to do.

It definitely needs some help. Lots of gas to face and best way I can describe the recoil is trashy. Kinda like shooting a hammer drill. I could keep the cans in the scope about half the time.

Holy hell it is fun to shoot though. Ive never been able to watch the cans explode at 100 yards with a centerfire rifle.

That sounds really bad. If it is still way over gassed with the H2, you’ll need a BRT reduced gas tube, Adj gas block, or new barrel.

I'll get an adjustable gas block if the H2 doesnt fix it. I have a feeling this is all just a fun little side quest on my way to a PRI Mod 0 anyway.
