Douglas barrel contoured for the over the barrel suppressor, and a good rigid forearm arrangement. In my opinion it’s kinda heavy for general carry. VG accuracy. I’d sell my PRI even though it’s cool to carry around in the truck. I think it’s more of a nostalgic piece, back to the “Lone Survivor” movie for those of us that did not serve/global war on terror timeframe and its use thereof.

Y’all drop some knowledge on me. What makes the Mk12 so special compared to any other 18” SPR?

It’s more than that.

The MK12 Mod 0 is one of the few items that is more than the sum of its parts- it is not just an 18” rifle length gas barrel AR.
When you put the OTB Ops Inc/AEM5/OCM5 can on it- the balance, recoil impulse, reticle movement, and sound all work together well. The forend is stiff already, but with the top rail locking the receiver and the handguard together- it’s extremely stiff, functionally creating a monolithic upper. The diameter of the handguard also helps- it’s wider than normal which makes it sit on bags or rests well, yet is rounded and narrow enough to carry comfortably.

The MK12’s are unique- especially the Mod 0 and H’s. They bring together a bunch of parts into a system that to this day isn’t matched in feel or performance while shooting to any others- which they should makes sense- as that’s how they were conceived and designed. It’s one of the few (very few) systems that started from actual skilled shooters and morphed into a rifle.
The MK12 Mod 0 and H’s are probably the only US mil AR style rifles worth cloning.
