Been playing with my new Laser Competition in the house using clips on carpet. I intend to use just the fly during Sept elk and reserve inner tent for trips with bugs.
I am not seeing the reason or need for the black ridge pole cover piece. It seems to be heavy and just possibly a rain guard. I am thinking about seam sealing the pole sleeve seams and removing that outer ridge cover piece. Any advice? bad idea? Does this piece add structural strength when the inner tent is hung?
Seems like ditching it would simplify the system and lighten it slightly. Thanks
