Wondering if anyone has shot the Gladius 3 blades out of a trad bow. I am thinking about ordering a pack and trying them out on some whitetail does in our late season. I've used a bunch of different heads, just want to try something else. Will be using my go to XX75 2117 shafts.

There was another Rokslide thread about them last year. I lost all interest when I saw the cutting diameter and the single bevel.

QAD exodus have been working just fine for me with a larger cut diameter and much easier sharpening.

I've shot a handful of pigs and goats with them over the last couple of weeks. They work well. Lots of people have a hard time getting them sharp but I've done just fine with a round chainsaw file and a small diamond steel from EZE-lap. Terra Firma also have a pull through sharpener designed to be used with either their Venator or Gladius broadheads that people seem to be enjoying.

A mate of mine shot a half-decent boar with his compound and I propped him up and shot him a couple of times with a Gladius to see how my penetration would be - 475gn arrow at 52# @ 28in and doing around 175fps. The shot was just behind the shoulder at about 15m and the broadhead penetrate to be poking the inside of the skin on the off-side, and the broadhead wasn't sharp when I started.

I imagine it'd be just fine for blowing through whitetail does. I shot a nanny goat while she was having a drink and it blew through her like she wasn't there. Pigs are much tougher so kill than goats so I always like to test penetration on them and assume that deer and goats will be fine afterwards. I got some of these shots on film but don't have anywhere to show them yet.

EDIT to add: I'm using the 150gn. They're currently available up to 175gn but I believe there may be a 200gn one available a way down the line. I also know this thread is asking specifically about trad bows but I know some blokes who have shot truckloads of animals with them out of their compounds and they couldn't be happier with their performance.

I like going between them and the Venators at the moment. They both fly nicely. The Venator looks to penetrate a little more obviously but the extra cut on the Gladius potentially balances that out. I'll be taking them to NZ in a few weeks and also likely use them for the upcoming fallow rut.

Thank you!

The Valkyrie stuff looks great but there is no doubt that the price is astronomical compared to the Terra Firma stuff. If you use Jeff Lusk's discount code to buy from the Terra Firma website directly, you get the heads for less than $10USD each.
