Looking for an affordable tent. 4 season. Maybe 3 season. Walled tent.
Lightweight best bang for your buck. What comes to your min first

Dan Durston's X-Mid 1P is a 3 season double wall shelter that is light (28oz), stable in storms, and a good bang for the buck at $200. Dan Durston has been a well respected member on the BPL forums for years.

Anyone have the Big Agnes Copper Spur HV UL2 reading some good thing. Except not great in wind

Love the big Agnes tents. You can probably get a pro deal too.

Unpopular option but the 3F Lanshan 2 is an excellent value. Yes it is made in China, but I can tell you the quality of the example I have is high. I have gone over very inch of stitching, and it was made well. 2.54 pounds including stakes and guylines. Huge for person and gear and doable for a couple with gear. You can also use it without the inner tent and save a pound.

I recently bought the Kodiak 10x14 flexbow. Easy to set up by myself, folding it back up is actually harder. Big enough for a family of four for the weekend and I think two people hunting out of it will work well. Look into them, they might fit what you’re looking for .

I have a Big Agnes Tiger Wall 2P (really made for 1P and gear). I like it, however I have been looking at some tents from Tarptent.

I just got a kodiak 10X14 and love it. Can't wait to put it through the paces this fall. I got a Big Buddy Mr Heater to take the chill off in the morning.

I have a msr tent and love it. Sleeps my wife son and I plus 2 dogs. Most important part is going to be getting the correct foot print and rain fly. We do a lot of back packing trips so I like my tent to stuff down small. But I love the msr quality.

I used to buy cheaper tents every few years. Bought a Davis 12x14 several years ago and it's still like new. Set up by myself is about 30 minutes or 15 minutes with 2 people. It is so much nicer than a standard tent...

I too have spent numerous hours researching tents. Not sure how you define "affordable", here is my story. Originally I was convinced I wanted a Hille, but they are heavy and a bit overkill for my backpacking trips. Then I started looking for lightweight and of course Z-Packs popped up on every top 10 list, but they are single walled, prone to more condensation, cant handle much snowload, and spin drift occurs under the overhangs. After more research I was sold on the Tarptent Stratospire Li, which I still think is a top 3 tent in DCF. Then more research started pushing me toward a tipi style. So HMG, MLD, Kifaru, Luxe, and Seek Outside. I am now sold on the Seek Outside Cimmaron as it is very adaptable to inserts, multiple people, and gear, also you can run a stove inside so great for all 4 seasons, and super light. Interior space on the tipi's specifically height really is nice vs a 39-42" ceiling height of the standard tents. I haven't ordered it yet, but the SO Cimmaron with a stove jack in DCF, IMO, is the one tent that can do it all.

Hahaha! It’s like you’re in my brain. I have about 3 pages of notes on tents this very moment. My thought process follows yours exactly. I think I’m sold on the Cimarron too. Pair that with a Borah bivy if I need one and I’m set. I also might get the full Cimarron nest for camping with the family. I don’t think my wife could do floorless. Plus, it’s easier to justify the purchase when it’s a “family tent.”

I use the Cooper Spur. I love it. I have two actually, UL1 and UL2 depending on what I’m doing. Never had any problems with wind. It holds steady (within reason), especially if all of the guy-lines are out. Has been great in wet weather as well. Highly recommended.

I am going to order the LBO nest and the Cimmaron 1/2 nest and I will end up returning one of them. I don't want a full nest, but for two I think the 1/2 nest would be great because you can still run the stove.

Not to sound like a broken record but go with the Copper Spur. Fly Creek has a single center roof pole which creates a steep point over most of the tent. Dramatically reduces head room and livability. Also super annoying after awhile with your head rubbing on it when you sit up.
