Just seeing if anyone had real world experience using this Tempest WEATHERmeter? Connects via bluetooths and works with the shooter/geoballistics apps. Has wind, temp, and density altitude. No screen though. Let me know if you have used and what you think. Thanks

I was really hoping someone had gave this a shot. I guess I might have too.

Hornady also lists it as compatible with 4DOF.

I looked briefly at them, but really want something that also captures temp and pressure. Why do we have to spend $400+ on devices with onboard ballistics solvers just to push basic environmental data to an app?

according to the website it does all of the environmental inputs. I would love a kestrel but I can’t justify a good one that does everything.

For what it’s worth I know it works with geo ballistic. I also use the Hornady app, it would be great if it was compatible with that.

Hornady confirms that the 4DOF app will pull temp, pressure and RH from the WEATHERmeter. I just ordered one.

Sweet! Haha okay I’ll let be the guinea pig. Hopefully it works good!

That's pretty slick for $100! There's way too much stuff on the kestrel and honestly I don't know how to use half of it. Totally a skill issue on my part. But I'm getting good with 4Dof. Might sell the kestrel and buy one of these. Use the extra money for ammo.

I just don’t have enough money for a kestrel after all this Shoot 2 hunt stuff coming out that I want.. ha

Can you update on how quickly it communicates to your app? Would be nice to know for real world hunting scenarios how quickly data can be measured and transferred via app.

Wind speed and direction changes appear to update every 1-2 seconds.

It would be nice if Tempest offered a vane for these things. I did find this, just not sure how it might hold up in field use.

It pairs up and measures stuff every time I ask it to.

One minor quibble worth noting:
The "faint blue LED" referred to in the manual is almost completely blocked by the Precision Shooting model's tan silicone jacket. I was only able to see it in a dark closet with the door shut, and that was only after I peeled off the jacket to see where the LED was actually mounted. It's located about 7:30 on the circle at the edge of the depression for the power button. It an be seen faintly through the silicone there as well as at the right-hand edge of the vent for the temp/humidity sensor if you hold the WeatherMETER up to your eye in a not-too-bright room. Forget about seeing it outdoors during 95% of legal shooting light.
