TC Renegade Trigger

I have a Renegade that was dropped off and I can’t figure out the dual set trigger. I’ve adjusted as per the manual but when used it only strikes halfway. If I use the primary trigger by itself it works fine, just that it’s probably an eight pound pull.
Any suggestions what could be stopping it?

This should help.

Yes, take it apart and check the lock mechanism. Probably a screw or something loose. I had the same problem years ago with one of my TC Hawkens.

Look for rubbing of parts on the mortise. It is possible you have too much wood, or metal making contact. If the hammer is only dropping from full to half-cock when you pull the front trigger, you have an issue. There are a number of threads here: Muzzleloadingforum.com

that search will get you started, don't worry if it's not a TC specific thread, similar issues often have similar solutions.

I have a half dozen TCs and each is a bit different in the tension required but are all roughly within an 1/4 turn or less.

Thanks for all the suggestions and links….the previous owner obviously didn’t like the light trigger. The fly has been removed so it’s just the primary trigger.
Parts aren’t really worth the shipping costs up to Canada unfortunately

Did you try either of these two places?
Jack First Parts
CFN Parts

Also, just in case you get lucky, you could post a thread in the ML forum I linked you and ask if anyone has spare parts. You might be surprised.

Thank you for the help, I’ll check them out. I found a Hawken in great shape for cheap I might check out as well and decide which I like best.
