Are TC Encores accurate enough for 400 yards and in?

I am building a truck gun and have an Encore frame laying around. Goal is to leave rifle in truck year round. However, I will have the action in the cab and carry a 12ga barrel for bird hunting and a center fire for deer/hogs in the tool box.

Question is/are the factory or custom encore barrels accurate enough to dial,or hold over out to 400 yards? I’ve never shot that distance with one and am considering a 6.5 CM, 6.5 Grendel or 22 CM for the center fire. All 3 will kill the size game I am likely to encounter. I WANT to try the 22CM and this appears to be the least expensive option to get into a 22CM.

The 6.5’s are the logical choice as I already have these in both bolt and AR platforms so ammo is always available. The 22CM would be a new addition and one I am not certain is needed. I am comfortable with the 6.5CM to 500 as that is my primary hunting rifle and it is capable of 10 shot 1 MOA as it is configured. My Grendel’s are for thermal hunting for hogs and shots are rarely past 150 yards.

Assuming I go with one of the three chambering’s listed has anyone with real world experience shot an encore with consistent 1.5 MOA accuracy out to 400 yards? If so who is the barrel manufacture and what was the configuration?

Call Mike Bellm in Missouri. My personal experience is with a 308 pro hunter with the 26” barrel to 200 yds. No experience beyond that. Only issue I have, both with the encore and a 6.8 contender carbine is reloading in tight spaces with the break action, can be awkward compared with a bolt gun.

Yes, they are more than accurate enough for a 400-yard hunting rifle.

Here are some pictures of groups that I have shot with my Encores. First one is a MGM 24" barrel chambered in 6.5 Grendel. The second is a MGM 10.5" pistol barrel chambered in 7TCU. Third is a factory 308 SS 308 barrel that I have had chopped to 17" and threaded for suppressor use.
I also have multiple other Encore and Contender barrels in various configurations. All of them are at least 1.5MOA with my handloads.

Have an Bullberry barrel in 6.5 creed and 300 win. 570yards out of the creed on a spike bull and 780yrds out of the 300win on just shy of a 300 inch bull.
Yes, they are accurate, if you do your part. First and best thing you can do is a trigger job. Factory pulls aren’t good.

We’ve made shots out to 700 yards with our 7mm-08 barreled Encore. I wouldn’t hesitate to use it to 400, not even for a second.

MGM does a great job with a reasonable turnaround time. As the comment above suggests, definitely do a trigger kit. They’re around $30 and worth every penny.

I've shot to 250yd with my factory 209x50 ML barrel and 285 Barnes and if I remember correctly, I was at about 5" groups. I've got a 7mmRM barrel that's 1-hole at 100 with 150 TTSX. My .308 (SSK 24" barrel) shoots less than 1" at 100 with 130 Barnes factory loads. I would have zero doubts about 400 with my 7mag - I just don't have a range close by that I can verify. Recommendation: get the 1x hinge pin from Haus of Arms - I see significant improvements with the tighter tolerances.

I have a Match Grade Machine 6.5 PRC Encore barrel that shot the following groups with
H1000 & Hornady 140 ELD M's:
57.0 = 0.540;
57.4 = 0.389;
57.8 = 0.871;
58.2 = 0.434;
58.6 = 0.446 &
59.0 = 0.540.

With 58.0 of H1000 & 130 Accubonds it shot a 0.240 group.

While fouling a clean barrel it had a Lapua case head separation and the Encore breached so I shipped the barrel & gun to MGM for inspection, got them back and haven't shot it since.
