I hear that TC is coming out with a long range 45cal barrel for the encore this fall. Does anyone have any info on this? I am trying to decide if I should wait on this or purchase an arrowhead brux barrel.

I haven't heard anything on this but it would be great for them to put out a smokeless option. I've contemplated going the Brux route with mine.

T/C has already said they will not be making a smokeless powder muzzy. I have one of Arrowheads .45 Cal. barrels on a Prohunter frame and also 2 of my buddies have the same. If you guys are comtemplating about it and decide to get one, you won't be disappointed whatsoever. They flat out shoot!

Is that a smokeless barrel? Nice setup!

Thank you Sir! Yes, it is a Brux smokeless barrel from Luke @ Arrowhead. Of course, you could shoot Blackhorn 209 or others if needed or wanted to.

Would you shoot the same bullet it comes with with BH209? My state doesn’t allow smokeless. I wonder how the accuracy is with BH?

For sure you can shoot the same Bullet. The best part about Luke's Brux barrels is that you can shoot them without using a Sabot (The weakest part of equation), just Bullet to Bore. He always has the Arrowhead NSR Bullet (No sizing required) so you just load your BH209 then the bare bullet over top of the charge. Don't qoute me but I believe with a 275 grain NSR bullet and the max load of BH209 you'll be right around 2200-2250 fps. My one buddy shoots that bullet with a Smokeless load @ 2200 fps with exceptional accuracy. Hope this helps......... Rich

Do you think the break is needed? I shoot the 50 cal with bh209 now with no break. Just no experience with a 45cal.

Mine has a break, 1 friend has a break and the other does not have a break on his. My bud without the break shoots his with the 275 gr. NSR and Smokeless powder @ 2550 fps. Honestly, it feels like a 12 gauge shotgun shooting a slug, not bad at all. I don't think you'll feel a difference between your .50 and a .45

I have always loved my Encore, but my Brux barreled Arrowhead will shoot a 1" group at 300 yds. Shooting 275 Parker Black max @2600 fps.

They haven’t released any specifics.

Can’t go wrong with a Woodman or Arrowhead Brux smokeless capable barrel. Sounds like TC won’t be doing any smokeless capable muzzy barrels but you could always order a .45-70 barrel and have it threaded for a breech plug.
