My friend is looking into buffalo hunt on the Blackfeet tribe Reservation. Anyone have any information about the hunting there? It's a fill your freezer hunt. It is in conjunction with the state of Montana. I'm going in blind on the entire thing.

Don't know anyone who has went there. Everyone i know hunts em out of Gardiner. If its on the rez, it'll be a guided hunt. You'll have to be with a tribe member to hunt. You'll definitely fill a freezer or 2. They usually yield around 650lbs of meat

The Blackfeet bison hunts are a sweet deal through Montana FWP's partnership with the tribe guided, guaranteed tags for winners, and yeah, it's a fill the freezer setup where you keep the head, hide, and all the meat no waste rules. But heads up: no hunts scheduled for 2025 due to herd management; they're on hiatus after solid seasons the last few years. Next one's likely 2026 enter the lottery early 4 chances, $10 each, up to 20 tickets via fwp.mt.gov Buyan apply for a shot at one of 20-30 tags.

Terrain's epic plains to foothills near Glacier NP, hunts run Nov Feb in open country spot and stalk, 300-400 yd shots common. Guides are top notch tribal members, and it's respectful cultural no high fence BS. Cost beyond lottery: $500-800 processing field dressing, plus your MT license. Call Blackfeet Fish & Game at 406-338-7207 for deets or waitlist vibes super low odds 1-5% draw rate, but winners rave about the freezer filling haul 500-800 lbs meat per bull. If your buddy's set on this year, pivot to the offres YNP hunts tribal priority, but nontribal tags available. Solid experience, just plan ahead.
