hey Roksliders, I had First Lite send me a pair of their new socks, actually not even sure if they’re new but they’re new to me. These are the Kiln, Mercury (sorry for the mix-up) 40% Merino 58% Nylon socks

I used their compression socks for a few years back in the early 2000s, and I really liked them. They were a little tight, and a little tall. However they did not slide down even when hiking in pacs.

Anybody using these Kilns yet? I just got mine on and headed out for a hunt tomorrow, wondering what to expect. Any other recommendations on socks?

Robby, what socks do you normally wear?
curious how these first lite socks compare from a warmth and comfort standpoint to something such as darn tough.

Thanks Robby. Not sure these are out yet (or at least I don't see them on the FL website). I just got a pair of their Zero Cold Weather OTC Sock and they seem pretty good so far, although I've not worn them outside yet... I really like the Woolpower 800 socks for sits, but they aren't nearly as long/tall as the FL I just got.

OK guys, I got about 12 days in these, washed them twice in that time. With the longest stretch about five days. The picture shows them right after pulling them out of a pac boot that had been on for 12 hours. No sagging down! They fit snugly and stay in place, which is quite the compliment when running them in a pac boot.

although they’re advertised as an early season sock, I wore them clear into single digit temperatures. They were fine as any sock that thickness. I really don’t like thick socks. If you do, you might want a thicker sock than this. I’m giving them a thumbs up. And will buy more.

I can’t say for sure if they’re going to hold up as well as my smart wool socks have, as some of mine are going on five+ years. Subscribe to this thread and check back in five years! Ha ha Ha.

ahh crap, missed this. I've been wearing Smart Wool last half of the decade, and was very happy with them.

dude, I got my names mixed up! These are the Mercury socks (Kiln is the zip-off merino bottoms). So yes, they're available and have been here. Sorry! Let us know how the Zero sock's roll.

I wore them this Saturday morning for 31 degree whitetail sit with Nevada uninsulated boots. They were toasty!

i'm a huge fan of my first lite socks! I have the mercurys, the zero cold weathers, the triad and the compressions. All of them have held up well, feel comfortable and honestly regulate temperature better than any other socks I've ever had. I can't compare them in durability over time to darn tough or other brands, because this is the first season I've used them, but in every other aspect, they're very impressive. I wore the same pair of compression socks multiple days, putting on around 8-10 miles per day, and the socks were no worse for the wear. Same with the mercurys. Multiple straight days, no worse for the wear and never deformed/loosened significantly etc. I saw that someone else had issues with the triads staying up, that wasn't my experience, but I could see how it could be possible with them only having the top elastic.

Any idea how these compare to the Treelines? I’m looking for the least hot/lightest merino offering. Looks like the Mercury and Treeline are the same blend, but Treeline Midweight are 2.9oz and the Mercury Lightwieght are 3.3oz?!

is the treeline from first lite? I didn’t get to try those if it is, but I’d just call their customer service if someone doesn’t chime in on here with experience.

Yeah it’s from FL

You’re a genius! I forgot that there were real people out there that get paid to answer my questions

So nice to not have wait on hold forever... they confirmed that the Mercury is the lightest. The weight discrepancy between that and the Treeline is likely a typo
