I currently own hunting rifles in a 7mm-08 model 700, 308 model 700, 7PRC custom Walls Rifle, 300PRC CA mesa FFT ,300WM Rem custom Shop, and a 6.5creed custom Tikka I built.

WHY DO I WANT A light weight 6.5 PRC or 6 creed so bad? Should I sell some and consolidate, not buy one, or screw it you only live once??

I’ll be the voice of (sort of) reason…I’be always been 1 gun kinda guy. In the last couple years I’ve gone to 2.

You need a training rifle and a hunting rifle.

They might as well be Tikkas (or the UM Raven Tikka clone) for all the reasons. If you haven’t gone down that rabbit hole yet, you can find the threads pretty easy by searching. Including the latest S2H winter class post.

2 optimized purpose built rifles…one to practice with, one to kill with.

That being said, looking at your options, I’d be getting/building another gun. But not a 6.5 PRC…

If you want it because you think it will accomplish something the others do not, then I'd say don't bother.

If you want it because you want a lightweight 6.5PRC and that's all there is to it... then go for it! If money were no issue I'd have a lot of redundant rifles just for the hell of it. Nothing wrong with enjoying the hobby.

I'm with Jake. I was a one gun guy and basically still am but I did inherit some of my late father's collection of weatherbys. I am now in the process of having a three gun set up and selling what I don't need. Training, cheaper to shoot and good for deer and lopes, a do it all mountain set up for deer and that is elk capable and my large cartridge of choice . Most everyone seems to have tons of stuff which if thats your deal I see nothing wrong with that. I have friends of mine that have so much to choose from in their safes its hard to decide and they spend very little trigger time on a specific rifle/cartridge because they have limited ammo and too many other ones to pick from. I'd rather just practice a lot and go kill things

Yeah you’re definitely on the wrong website. What you want is RiflesAnonymous.org .

“ Hi… My name is Thunker and I’m an addict. It all started innocently enough with a rifle I needed for hunting, but before I knew it I was meeting guys in the bathroom at Starbucks to check out Bartlein barrels. I would stay up til four in the morning reading Rokslide and snipershide classifieds, then go to Sportsman’s.com and order anything on sale with a barrel and a composite stock. I’m broke and can’t even afford ammo for all the rifles I have… let alone feeding my kids. Please help me!!??”

But it’s a good sign that you’re asking for help. Hang in there, bruh. I also want a lightweight 6.5 PRC… But tonight I’m meeting a guy in the park who says he has a Tikka prefit 8 twist .270 barrel in stainless. Maybe this’ll be my last buy? Maybe…

That's me in a nutshell LMAO

Sell off some if you like. You have alot of overlap with the calibers you already have. If not keep them and add a 6CM or fast twist 243, AND grab a fast twist 223. Then your set

You hit the main thing - trigger time. That’s why a cheap to shoot, long barrel life trainer is needed.

Spend the money on ammo and skill development, not more guns

If I was OP, I’d sell everything but that 6.5 Tikka, build a .223 trainer and buy a bunch of ammo.

maybe I should just re barrel my creedmor to 6 creed.

Great choice IMO. That’s my killing cartridge. Can chop it to 16.5”, and still have plenty of juice for expansion to 600+ with several different proven killing bullets. Makes for a nice compact easy shooting suppressed rig.
