Taking suppressor out of country recently?

I have taken a suppressor out of the USA and back in, many times via airlines over the last ten years. I had asked a CBP agent in the past (maybe 2021) if I need a form 4457 for the suppressor and he had told me the tax stamp was more than sufficient. The dozen of times I have returned, never has a tsa or cbp officer looked at the can or paperwork, just the rifle and 4457.
I have a hunt in a few months with a friend who recently purchased a suppressor and he is claiming that with law change in 2025 you can not bring a suppressor out of the country anymore unless you go through some major lengthy paperwork that you must hire a lawyer for. I have searched on the issue but found various results.
Has anyone had any experience traveling with one in the last year that would lead them to believe something changed?

I’ll be taking one out of the country next week. CBP said no worries, and that I could put it on my 4457 if I wanted but it wasn’t required. If I run into any problems I’ll post again in this thread.

I took my suppressor to Mozambique in October 2025. No issues at all. Same as it was in 2023 when I did it then. I put my suppressor on its own 4457 and carry the tax stamp with me. Both trips, nobody has ever bothered to look at the suppressor, 4457 form, or tax stamp ever. Flying out or returning.
So personally, I wouldn’t worry about it.
