How burly of a hiker? I love my Salomon Quest 4ds. Not as big of a toebox as my Altras but its very roomy. Run to REI and try them on, might surprise you.

I have them on both feet, and have a terrible time finding shoes that fit. The crispi wyoming works for me. Good luck!

I wear the Timps. Took a couple weeks to get used to the zero drop, but now when I put on a pair of adidas or Nike I feel like Im wearing high heels. Hokkas also have a huge toe box.
I cant wear the high heels anymore lol, i only wear barefoot type shoes and boots now and got rid of all other shoes a while ago. I ended up getting custom russel moccasin minimalist thula thulas. They're $478 but they give 10% off for first time buyers if you sign up for their email. Took 3 months to get them but totally worth it, they're actually waterproof and fit like a glove out the box. I wear them every day and they should last many years with the occasional resole

Good luck in your quest sir. I cant recommend russel mocs enough but the vivobarefoot shoes or other minimalist hikers could work too depending on your needs. Vivos just werent as waterproof and durable as the russels under extreme uses such as my backpack hunt in hells canyon. They got a good warranty and customer service luckily tho.

Theres another thread like this for wide foot recommendations where i was just shaking my head at the amount of different high end mountaineering boots, insoles and other crutches all those guys were trying when they could've gotten a perfectly fitting custom boot for the same or very similar price as 1 or 2 of the boots they went through without all the headache and pain lol. Some of them sounded like they went through like $1500 worth of boots its crazy. All i know is im never gonna go through a painful break in period on one-size-fits-both-feet boots that dont fit my feet perfect again. Most people's left foot is a good amount bigger than their right, like a half size for me personally
