Thought this might be a fun thread to bring to the Muzzleloader section of Rokslide. We don't seem to have a ton of love over here.. maybe its better that way..

Anyway, I wanted to start this to post my progression with my new knight ultralite in .45cal. The tail does not start out well.. Knight had made some website changes that resulted in the wrong rifle being sent to me. Knights customer service jumped on the issue and the rifle is getting RMA'd and sent back today to have the correct barrel installed with the Williams sights.

I have the Williams micro adjust long range sights sitting at home waiting to be installed. I am going to go with the standard RS install guide of cleaning all the screws and holes with a degreaser and then using a paint pan to lock in the screws at torque.

The plan is to try several different bullets and power combos to find what the gun likes the best. Unfortunately, I don't have a tag this year and today is the start of the muzzy season so I likely wont be hunting with it this year. But that gives me a year to really dial this unit in.

Stay tuned for testing, pictures and all around fun with the smoke pole.

Should be a good thread. A couple of recommendations to start; first, put red loctite on the little tension screw for the vertical dovetail. Having that loose will cause some serious misses. Second, the screws for the sight are just slotted. Swap them for some torx ones. Then bond the front and rear sights to the barrel and receiver with Loctite 380.

Thanks! i will def look into getting that loctite ordered up.

I'm pretty excited to get this rifle built. I was super bummed when i noticed they sent the wrong one but its okay. im hoping they do some faster shipping this time and that the repairs wont take too long.

out of curiosity, do you know what size torx screws to us in place of the slotted?

Pretty sure they're just 6-48 screws. Not sure on length exactly.

Red "Loctite" is a almost Permanent you might ever get the screws back out. Blue would be my suggestion it does the job to hold screws but can get those screw back out. As you might want to change the sight or put a scope on... As for Knight Rifles you must have gotten lucky. They once had the best CS but since the company changed hands the CS is lacking. And the S&H on Parts is now extremely costly if you need parts. Back in Feb 2025 the cost of a "Quick Release Detent Screw" was $16.99 and not is has almost doubled. Then add S&H tough to buy anything. And When you read their website Rifle are "All Sales are "Final" what ever that means.
As for possibe Bullets - Parker Ballistic Extremes, Barnes T-EZ's as the TMZ are tight if you can get them down the bore, unless you change the sabot if using sabots & PR Dead Centers are worth testing...
As for Specialty Screws you might find some at Brownells they offer some.
Good Shooting with your new Knight Rifle!

yeah the red stuff wont ever be on anything i build.. i like to tinker too much for a permanent solution haha. i was going to do the whole paint pen thing preached on here to try it out and see how it works. if i dont like it, the blue stuff it shall be.

Well i dont know that i got lucky lucky. I will say the person who replied to me was their marketing and media person so not exactly a CS rep. so the response was fast and a solution of me sending it back for them to put the correct barrel on it and return it on their dime made me happy. I then had to send 3 follow up emails to find out what the status was of the return label. I was then asked if i could do a drop off at a fedex location because the shipping dude was new and was having some difficulties. so all is right and shit happens.

I will also say that i noticed that their prices had increased. This muzzy was on sale for what they were priced at the last time i looked. Retail was almost $1300. I want to order some extra parts for back ups in case i have anything break but man I about needed new skivs when i saw the shipping price.

I forgot to mention in the starting post that this is a .45cal so those barnes are out. unless theres something to them i dont know.. but those PR Dead centers have really got my eye. I really like that i can get a 175gr for the .45 so if i can convince my wife to shoot it she might actually like it. figure a 70grV charge and a 175 will be pleasant enough.
