Hey gang I’m on a mission and looking for some true experienced folks to chip in some advice.

So I’m a life flight pilot. And over the years I’ve had this boot and that boot. Budget stuff. Danner etc that kinda stuff. I want to get a solid long lasting tactical service boot that I can replace the soles on in time if need be. While still enjoying the money well spent.

Any good suggestions.
Think of mid to high budget kinda

Thanks everyone.

A properly fitted and care for Danner boot should last you a very long time. They can be resoled and repaired.

Not sure what else you are looking for, as the western style hunting boots are not made for urban work.

^^^^my last pair of danner acadias (to my knowledge their only US made service boot) were a pathetic excuse for a boot, both materials and craftsmanship. Felt and looked like a Walmart boot. I don’t know what happened with that company (maybe I pulled a bad pair?) but I can’t reccomend them anymore.

Not sure what the OP’s specs are? Color, height, etc…. But kenetrek, zamberlan, etc… are all making a version now. If you want something a little more rebuildable Wesco can probably tailor something to your needs.

A bit old school but Danner Acadias served me well. I had pairs last decades With care and resoling.

the more modern stuff seems harder to resole. I don’t have any direct experience with their tactical boots but Crispi has been my favorite hunting brand and you can get some of their boots resoled.

Some guy on rokslide and the REI shoe salesman told me navy seals wear salomon quest boots, so they must be pretty tactical.

Seriously though, they are pretty light, comfy, and supportive for non-mountain work. But they are a use for a year and throw away type boot. A non-gore tex version would be sweet.

I wore danners my entire career. I am sure there are better boots out there, but that is what our department wore.

When I got out, we were wearing Bellevilles. Had Danners and something else before that.

Corcoran Jump Boots.

I wore two pairs in over 20 years on duty, and only needed the 2nd pair due to gaining a shoe size. They shine great with the capped toe and the soles can be swapped out by a cobbler every double years.

I wear zero drop footwear, and a couple of my hunting boot options are military boots.
I’ve got a pair of Rocky SV2 insulated boots, they are made in USA and berry compliant. I’ve been really hard on them and they have held up well.
I also have a pair of Belleville minimal boots. They are super lightweight and great for warm weather but they aren’t something you are gonna resole. They basically have the same sole as a pair of Merrell Trail Gloves.
When I was in the Army, we would take our issue jungle boots down to Ranger Joes, right outside the gate at Fort Benning, and they would resole them with this squishy ripple sole and put Nike insoles in them. I swear those were some of the most comfortable boots I ever wore once they were good and broke in. The Belleville Mini-mils remind me a lot of those.

Haix are a good boot, I have AirPower something or others. The sole is warm down to a Flat, they do resold and I need to send them in. The quality is akin to other European made boots. They are not too boot like to be a pain on hard ground either. Fire/ems is the use Iv been putting them through. What used to be a boot a year, with haix went 2.5

Globe makes a set of us made I believe. They are pricy though. Thorogood has a good set similar to the haix that I currently have as well, well made.

I had a pair of these and really liked them. The only thing is they are a molded sole, so when they wear out they are done.

I really liked them. Probably put 200 plus miles on them. REI ended up exchanging them and I got a pair of Lowa Renegades.

I wear the Kennetrek new hard tactical boots. They make a great duty/tactical boot if they need to be black and able to be shine nicely. They've held up great so far for general duty use and search and rescue functions. Might be a little stiff for flying though.

Aren't the Quests a "sorta Gore tex " boot anyways? Lol

Same thing they did with our boots in the Marine Corps. Those soles were comfy til you had to sidehill. Then they sucked. Big time.
