I have a tactacam and was just wondering what everyone’s thoughts are on Spartan before I buy more tactacams.

those 2 are in complete different worlds. Tactacam is a budget camera that provides good value at that price point but the Spartans are a much much better, but they come at a higher price point

I have little experience with cell cams. But the pics on that tactacam seem really grainy and unclear.

They provide good value at that price point but they leave a lot to be desired. Picture quality is nothing special. When we tested tactacams side by side with Spartans, Reconyx, Exodus, Stealth, Covert & browning the results were eye opening, they miss a pile of photos, recovery time between photos is terrible.

Tactacam doesn’t compare to Spartan but they do work and will be more than adequate for most uses. I didn’t like having multiple apps for different brands of cameras and now only use Tactacam

For some reason, my Tactacam eats through batteries pretty quick.
I literally just put batteries in mine last Wednesday and got the message last night that it’s consumed 80% already lol. Not the first time it’s happened either.

It's pretty disappointing. I may add a solar panel.

I have this issue as well on one of my Tactacams, whereas the other lasts forever. I think it's a quality issue, found a thread on another forum with multiple reports of this. Going to try and get Tactacam to replace.

Let me know how this goes...I now have a couple doing this, some others won't even send anymore. Tried the upgrades and nada. These are 1st gens and 2nd gens...trying to decide if I want to replace with new ta tacams or start going a different route.

I just bought the lithium battery for my tactacam reveal, charged it up and it went from 100% to 60% within 24hrs. That being said it also sent 400 pictures in that 24 hour because of ravens 🤦🏻‍♂️ I made some adjustments to sensitivity and delay, after 2 weeks I’m still at 40%. Even still I was expecting longer life from the lithium battery.

What brand would you recommend from an overall value vs price point?

Buy the solar panel from Herd360 and never look back. I have had two tactacams since September and my batteries have not once dropped below 100%. These are on feeders in Texas and sending videos and pictures on the highest quality settings instantly...all day long.

Worth every penny.

overall value id go with stealth cam fusion or reactors. I have a pile of them that run year round with no problems. Some of my more remote ones havent been touched in over 3 years and they are still working and they experience temps down to -40f in the winter. Just make sure and use quality SD cards and good batteries.

I have these on almost all my cell cams now. If you have access to guidefitter you can get these & stealth cams for cheap.

If price wasn't an option id have all Reconyx Hyperfires or Spartan GoLives

Been running the Tactacams for a few years, picture quality is decent for closer photos start getting worse at distance. Easy to use and good features on the new 3.0 version as well.

I’ve been using the Tactacam solar panels on 2 cameras for the last year and the batteries have remained fully charged. I’ve had trouble retrieving videos on one of my cameras, only solution is to cycle power and resolves issue for a couple weeks and issue repeats. No issues with taking photos.

I run alkaline batteries in mine with solar panels. The only time I ran below 80 percent was when the cord came out. Except for february, march, and april I leave them out in the field. They work good for the cost. I have had cams stolen or lost before so I wont buy premium anymore.

I run only Tactacams. I buy a $20 12volt 7ah battery, a $10 10 ft power cord, and small 30 cal. ammo can. My batteries never go below 100% all season long and the AA in the camera have been good for 3 years now.
