Swivel Stud Help

Trying to finish up this old Remington 721 for my son and at some point someone drilled out the front swivel stud. I’ll attach some pictures but does anyone have a good resource for what I’d need to make this work?

If you want to keep a swivel stud one way to do it would be to glue a plug from a dowel in that hole and re-drill a pilot hole for a new swivel stud. Youd have to finish the new wood but thats your best bet. You can either buy the proper size dowel in the matching hardwood online or get a kit for your drill and make your own. Or seal the hole and instal a rail over top of it.

Or maybe you can find an oversized stud?

Depending on what you’re going for with this rifle, you might bore out the hole and epoxy in a flush cup for quick disconnect sling or bipod. Or for a more traditional fit you could fill in the hole with an appropriate dowel as previously suggested.

I’d epoxy a flush cup in it and then if you still wanted a sling stud you could buy an adapter.

That’s what I was going to say. I’ve gotten sling attachments meant for flush cups off eBay for fairly cheap. I use them on rifles that have a pic rail for the bipod and have a built in flush cup/quick detach point. It works really well.
