I ordered some Peterson brass for my 22 ARC. Currently using Hornady brass from some factory loads I bought. Want to try Peterson as the Hornady seems to be sizing quite different case to case and I'm getting some high ES/SD numbers along with some very good numbers with the same load.
This is my first time using "premium" brass. How much would you suggest dropping my current charge weight for pressure testing? I'm currently .5 grain below pressure with the Hornady. The Arc doesn't need a lot of powder but I'd rather not waste 50+ grains starting too low if I don't have to. My current plan is drop a grain and go up. Does that seem about right?

Drop under book max or previous max tested charge in your Hornady cases whichever you feel more comfortable with; 0.5-1gr and work back up and chrono if you can to compare velocities. Without signs of pressure on case, getting back to your known velocities should also give an idea where you are with pressure. Alternatively, you could measure water capacity with fired and resized Hornady and the new Peterson just to compare and make an educated guess from there. I wouldn’t personally drop all the way back to book minimum for the same reason not wanting to waste components just to go right back to about where I was to begin with.
