Swirling wind

What is everyone's strategy for swirling wind? Last weekend hunting the storm, I had wind swirling in every direction about every 30 to 45 seconds. I was just walking closed logging roads, skid trails and still hunting. I ended up passing a buck at about 50 yards while still hunting, I dont know if he smelled me or saw me or was just walking away from me headed wherever he was headed. But I had been thinking all morning about the swirling wind, I really didn't have much choice and figured with it swirling constantly it was pushing my scent in all directions and was hoping it would keep my scent out of any bucks noses. So what does everyone else do in those situations? It was also pouring rain so hard I figured that was keeping my scent down as well.

If I am rifle hunting, I simply ignore swirling wind. I refuse to worry about things I cannot control.

Either find a spot to try and glass across the canyon or just cuss it and keep goin.

I think it matters a lot more on a nice day than when its rockin an rollin

I figured as much, nothing I can do about it so just kept going. I would have preferred to glass but the rain and fog wouldn't let me.

Still... slipping through the timber on a rainy/foggy day..Thats the fun stuff IMO. I love to hunt that way.

Hunting blacktail in the timber isnt all that different than hunting grouse without a dog
